"I didn't think so..." He said, forcing himself to not look away from her. As soon as their eyes connected, he knew exactly where his nervousness came
from. He knew why he couldn't compose himself. There was something he wanted to do and he wouldn't relax until he did it.
"So...is that your backwards way of telling me that you missed me?" He laughed quietly.
Even without her answer, he knew that's what she meant. He just wondered why she could be so obvious about what she wanted from him, but she refused
to be as frontal when it came to Zori asking for something from her. He wondered if she'd be as hesitant to give Zori what he desired from her once he
finally asked her what had been desiring to say to her since they'd met in the bookstore.

Niral's lonely footsteps were the only sounds that came out of the Grey Gallery that lunch time. It seemed the Waldorf Gallery was a little bit empty
today. But that made it better for Niral. She always liked to appreciate art when it's quiet. She detested the normally loud and annoying tourists
that normally filled this whole art gallery. She stood there for a few moments at each piece. If it captured her attention she stayed and looked some
more.. if it didn't. She just moved on. It's simple.

This place was a little bit out of Erik's element, not used to being inside an art gallery let alone one that looked completely deserted. He smiled at
the woman he saw at the front and dodged around her, trying not to let his flip flops scuff along the floors. His jeans were ragged, brushing against
the floor as he tried to stay as quiet as possible. He looked around idly, stopping at a photograph and just admired it, taking in the picture with
his eyes and smiled slightly.

Well as hard as he might of tried. She still heard footsteps. Spinning around she saw it was that Erik she met a few days ago. Well at least someone
she knew was here. He seemed nice, sweet and caring when they met. Slowly walking through the gallery she was able to sneak up behind him while he
was admiring a photograph. "It's one of my favorites as well that photograph" she said closely to his ear

Erik jumped slightly, turning to the side and saw Niral standing there. He smiled at her, turning back to the photograph. "It's... calming, isn't it?"
Admiring the woods of it, the way the water rippled in the river. He looked to the side, admiring her profile before he moved on to another
photograph, this one of a little kid holding out a stick for a rather large dog.
"Reminds me of childhood-" Not his, certainly not his. No, someone's who lived a normal life who had a dad and a mom and a dog. He ran a hand through
his shggy hair and back along his neck, rubbing and massaging the muscles back there.

Niral smiled as Erik started talking about these photographs. She knew he probably wasn't the biggest art critic in the world. But you don't have to
be to appreciate art. But it was nice hearing his observations. As Erik moved onto the next photograph, Niral stuck closely behind him when they
arrived at another photo. Looking at the name of this photo and it's photographer. Niral remember meeting this photographer a few years ago. Total
bastard and she didn't think much of his 'Art'. Niral's opinion hadn't changed. "I don't like this picture. Yes it's suppose to be portraying
childhood. Yet there's no happiness I feel from this picture. Aren't childhoods suppose to be happy?" She asked. i mean how would she know? All she
knew was that she hadn't. . .

He turned to her, eyebrows crinkled down slightly and bit his lip. "Don't you think it's happy? A little kid playing with his dog in the sunlight. I
think it portrays something happy." He smiled slightly, bending down only by a little so his lips were by her ear. "I always wanted a dog when I was
younger but never got one, that's why I have Joey now." It was a soft whisper, trying to lighten the mood but stood again to examine the photo. Black
and white, completely crisp but at the same time could see the happiness in the small child's eyes, see the happiness of the dog, tail swishing around
at some point from the messy fur.
"I think it portrays childhood, just wanting to go outside and be with your pet or your friends and to just play. Do what you want, be
carefree." He wasn't sure where the words were coming from, wasn't quite sure why he was even speaking them when his own childhood was ruined when he
was 11. He continued to look at it though, enraptured with the feeling.

"Well it's not the most exciting portrait ever is it?" Niral asked Erik "A child playing with a dog. Like i haven't seen that before" she added
sarcastically "This photo is just so one dimensional. So obvious. So contrived. It's just not working for me at all. But everyone had there own tastes
and yours just obviously differs from mine". Moving on from that photo she slowly walked by the rest of the photography section "Occasionally stopping
at a photograph "So Erik" She said aloud knowing he was near "I didn't really have you down as a art lover"

"I guess I'm not looking at how exciting or unoriginal it might be, I'm looking at the emotion of the photo." He smirked over at her, following her
along this section, staying close but not all too entirely close. He raised an eyebrow slightly and only chuckled quietly. "I'm sure there's a lot of
things I don't look like, though no, I've only been to two art showings in my life and they were both when I was younger. I was in town and needed
something to do so I stopped in here on my way to lunch." He shrugged lightly, moving around the back of her to admire another photograph of a
carnival, the brilliant colors coming out from the photo and very obviously standing out.
"What about this one?" Wanting to hear her input this time, nodding towards the photo before him, tilting his head to the side slightly to look more
carefully at the photo.

She wanted to smirk or say something relatively smart-mouthed, but there wasn't much she had in her head besides the truth. The truth was that she
felt something; something she hadn't felt about another human being in a long time. If she knew he was nervous or concerned, she would've laughed or
sighed, or some other unintentionally condescending action. She just didn't know what to do now.
"Everything's a little backwards with me." she said, shrugging. How true it was. She was brave enough to ask for what she wanted, but such a child
when it came to this. What did he do to make her this way? She just sat and waited for him to speak some more, and when he didn't, she did.
"But, yes...I did." How true it was.

A smile broke on Zori's lips as he stared into Chloe's eyes. She entranced him, really she did. Her very gaze sent him into a nervousness that he
hadn't seen in awhile. Her very presence, her very defiance to give Zori exactly what every woman had always been so excited and so ready to give
him...it captured him. He literally couldn't keep his eyes off of her.
"Wow...did it...take alot for you to admit that?" He asked, playfully.
Even though he hadn't seen her in weeks, Chloe had the habit of causing Zori to drop his guard, immediatly. He couldn't do that around other women.
He'd always felt the need to put on a "hard guy" exterior. He'd had to be the man for so long...to his mother, his aunts and his cousins. He didn't
know how to be anything but that. He forgot what it felt like to laugh with a woman, to earnestly enjoy her company. To honestly feel like they were
on the same level.

She wanted to tell him to stop looking at her like that, like he was happy to see her. She knew he meant it, but still...it was a little sickening.
She didn't do this whole 'man-woman romantic-courting' bullshit, and yet, there she was, sitting next to him, a small smile creeping up her lips.
Crap. She really did miss him.
"Maybe. At least I said it, right?" she said, looking at him in that fearless way. She was scared, though; more than ever. They were equal, someone
she could relate with, and yet, he was the one thing she wanted to run to and from. She had no experience in this thing, this romance thing. She just
had to sit there and wait for his move to know what to do.

Zori spotted the little smile on her lips. Her eyes gleamed a little when she smiled...making her look ten times more beautiful. Desireable. He
frowned slightly, almost having to sit on his hands to avoid stroking her smooth, mocha cheek. The desire to kiss her smiling lips was overwhelming,
making him a bit alarmed.
"Well...I know you're hungry. You've probably been sitting here all day..." Zori said, turning towards Chloe. Their arms brushed in the process,
causing the tiny hairs on his arm to raise for a moment.
"And I know I might get rejected...but..." He looked at her again, bracing himself for a firm "no" to escape her soft lips. Rejection wasn't something
that he was use to, he'd admit that. He never asked for much, so when he finally did...he'd flash that one hundred watt smile and he'd usually get his
way. If he didn't get his way...well, he didn't know what followed that thought because he always did. But with Chloe, if he didn't get his way...he'd
try until he did...
"There's a jazz club around here...somewhere. I was wondering if you'd like to join me there for lunch?" He asked, gazing at her again.
Zori narrowed his eyes and grinned mischeviously.
"You know you want to..." he growled, his voice tinted with a hint of seduction.

This man was going to be the death of her. He kept her on her toes with every move he had, from his slight frown to his touch. An accident, yes, but a
move nonetheless. It sent chills down her body. What did this man do to her? Her body was already betraying her by flaunting that smile, but now her
mind was screwing with her, too.
She was actually considering going out with him. She was thinking of leaving with this man she only knew for a few minutes from over a few weeks ago
to eat...for a date. She should refuse, an easy answer to give to almost anyone. Except Zori wasn't anyone. She didn't know why, but he wasn't.
She looked down, her bangs hanging down her face, folding her arms. Just say no, right? Yeah, right. Time to be betrayed again.
"You expect the worse from me, do you? I was going to say yes, but..." she said, looking away for a second before focusing her gaze at him again.

Zori's laugh sounded odd as it echoed off of the gallery's walls. His eyes remained narrow as he leaned his head to the side and smirked, eyeing Chloe
curiously.
"No...I don't expect the worst from you." He said and bit his lip, watching her reaction to that statement.
"I expect you to tell me what's up. You know...to be real with me." He answered and looked down. Chloe's eyes stared holes into him, almost burning
him with their intensity. He had to look away, calm his palpitating heart. He could almost hear a faint, echoing heartbeat. Was it really pounding
that loudly in his chest? If Chloe only knew the way she made him feel...
"Anyway..." He said, interrupting the silence that erupted between them. Even in the quiet gallery, the silence was deafening.
"You comin' or not?" I said, grinning widely and gazing at her with laughing eyes.

"Nice to know." she said, sitting upright for once. Time to be a woman, to be more like herself and stop this now. Yeah, if that was actually possible
of her right now. That lip being bit was so tempting, in so many ways, but she wasn't that type of woman. It wasn't going to get that far, and he had
to accept that.
"To be real? I've been like this since we met." she said, looking at him curiously. What else did he want? Another date? Her in his bed? No, no. He
was going to have just one with her; just one and one alone. That was all the control she had left.
"Fine...I'll go." she finally answered to him after a minute of silence. If only he knew what he did to her to be this way.

"And that's all I want from you, Chloe." He agreed, his face setting, becoming serious. He didn't know what she expected out of him, but she had a
clue. Other men had probably attempted to take advantage of her or feed her bullshit. But Zori, wasn't one of those assholes. He hoped that she would
let him show her that he broke the mold...
"Nothing more...nothing less, ya dig?" He said, staring at her intensely. He smiled again, breaking through the seriousness of their conversation.
"Don't sound so excited..." He responded as she finally had agreed to join him for lunch, which would be soon turning into a late lunch. He checked
his watch and saw that the time was nearing four o'clock.
"I have an idea. How about we meet up at the jazz club, instead of going together." He suggested. He wanted to change clothes, freshen up.
"Maybe you could slip into something more dressed down..." He joked.
"You may be a bit overdressed..." Zori looked at her paint covered chucks and grinned a bit. Even paint was sexy on her.
"The club's called...SMOKE, by the way. I'm sure you've heard of it."

She blinked, seeing how quickly he shifted to her mindset. Good, now he was on even ground with her; just the way she liked it. He
looked...captivating in a way when he looked at her that way. He was doing that thing again...looking like he cared. She didn't get it, but didn't
mind it. Damn that lack of trust issue she had.
So, she accepted. Betrayal of the mind once again. What an idiot she was at times...wait. The only time she was like this was with him. What was he
doing that made her like this? Maybe this whole lunch thing could help her in this.
"Now you're a comedian...and not a good one." she deadpanned, gazing at him. Yeah, she knew she wasn't well dressed enough, but she was coming from
her apartment/studio; dressing up wasn't much of a big deal for her.
"I know...I work there. Guess I'm telling my boss I'm taking a day off or something." she said, sighing softly. She got up, hand on her hip, hoping
she was not going to regret this.

"You work there? Hmmmm..." Zori asked and rubbed his goatee, feigning deep thought.
"I really thought you'd work here...being into art as much as you are." He said, the mischevious grin returning to his face.
"I mean, that's the only reason I'm here, you know." He said, his eyes lighting up.
He couldn't believe he'd actually revealed his true intentions to her. Of course he loved art galleries, but they weren't truly his thing. Now jazz
clubs, those were his home. The melodic sounds floating from the stage literally entranced him. He loved closing his eyes and imagining the greats on
the stage. Billie Holiday, Josephine Baker, Wynton Marsalis...all in his mind's eye.
"Well...I guess I'll see you at SMOKE...around six." Zori murmered, standing up. He continued to look at Chloe, grinning sexily.
"Oh and wear something sexy..." He said over his shoulder. With a laugh, he walked away.
