The Grey Gallery
The Grey Gallery is home to classic pieces of fine art, paintings and illustrations created via oil, charcoal and acrylic mediums. Their bright colors
stand out against the monotone walls bringing life to what should be truly seen.

Monet, Picasso; it was a girl's best friend, or at least Chloe's. She sat silently in the gallery on the white bench, smack in the middle of the room.
The pictures stood in front of her, entrancing her as she stared. They usually said something to her, and today it was saying that she needed this.
Scratching the back of her neck, she sighed softly, feeling at home at this place. It made her move in a way, and as she sat there in silence, she
just smiled.
"Perfect." she mouthed out, not wanting to disturb her moment.

Wandering around, Cooper caught sight of a door that said 'Open' on the front, and strolled in. When he saw the paintings, he just knew it
was some boring gallery, and was about to walk out when he saw a strangely familiar head of black wavy hair. Minnie. Coop went over to her
and tapped her lightly on the shoulder, not wanting to startle her. "Hey, Minnie- remember me?"

As minnie was silently looking at the paintings she felt a tap on her back and she heard a familiar voice say her name. Hmm Who was this. Minnie
turned on her heel and saw cooper. She put a very long nail to her lips and said. "Hmmm. Yeah I might. Coop Am I right"

He half-smiled, nodding. "So how are you? What are you doing in New Helena?" His phone made a beep which resulted in a glare from the person who ran
the place and he quickly silenced it.

Cooper shrugged nonchalantly. "I dunno." He crinkled his eyebrows at the painting behind her that was hanging on the wall. Talk about
chaotic. "So, what's interesting about this place?"

He looked skeptical. "Peace?" Coop was not used to peace, he was used to New York. "Is anyone else here from Briar? I know Alex is but if theres two
people here, there's gotta be more right?"

"What do you mean?" Cooper asked, his interest decreasing. "Oh Shiina. She's.... visiting family." He shrugged again. "In Austria." Attempting to
start up a conversation, he inquired,"So, Minnie why did you come here? Briar was so less.. sparkly without you there!" Cooper smiled.

Takashi walked into the gallery, admiring the art. It was rather nice in here, the atmosphere was calm and there was slight chatter. He stopped at a
particular painting and took to marveling at its' beauty.
"Wow...this sure is pretty," he said underneath his breath.

Lola was bored and just wanted to do something that didn't involved school or drama. So she came here to clear her head and look at the pictures. She
was walking along until she accidently bumped into this guy. Dammit why'd she always have to bump into the guys. She looked over at him on the ground.
"I'm so sorry." she said, smiling. She didn't mean to, but he was really cute. Carter flirted and she could too, they weren't together or anything. "I
wasn't looking where I was going. I'm sorry."

Art; something Chloe knew very well. This was where she practically lived in when she wasn't working or at home. She loved this place, inspiration on
the walls and seeping inside of her. She needed this, breathing deeply and closing her eyes for a second, taking it in. This was where she belonged,
not in a club with a man she just met weeks ago and haven't seen since.
Zori; that was his name, one she couldn't forget. He had a body, a stature she couldn't forget. His smile was something she missed, seeing them in
dreams, which she quickly waked from. She didn't want to remember him, but she did, and it was driving her insane internally. She didn't get it; why
did he get that space, that attachment so quickly? She sat at a bench, looking at a picture, but all she could see was him.

The Grey Gallery. Zori walked the empty corridor, the walls adorned with classic artwork. Most of it from artist that he'd never heard of. He didn't
know what drew him the art gallery that afternoon. Well...that thought was a lie. He knew exactly what brought him to the unfamiliar turf that
day...better yet...who.
Since that day in City Lights, he'd been searching for her. It'd been weeks since he'd seen her mocha complexion. Weeks since he'd seen her supple
lips. And her body...God, that body. A body that she couldn't even hide underneath the bulky clothing that she wore...convered in paint. The
mysterious Chloe. The untouchable Chloe. Zori had longed for her ever since that day, but he'd been unlucky...unable to find her in vastness that was
SoHo. He'd gone to City Lights every day for a week, looking for her. Hiding his intentions by delving into the art section, her home. Trying to
correct the mistake he'd made in NOT asking her for her number when she was in front of him. But to no avail, no matter how long he stayed in the
store, combing the shelves...waiting for her...she never showed.
Zori stopped in front of a Van Gogh. He'd known it when he saw it...Still Life With Absinthe. He loved the yellow hue of the
painting...almost seeing the world through Van Gogh's eyes. Life in Absinthe-caused yellowed sephia. The color looked so out of place on the grey
walls. Color among Grey. Usually, Zori would've felt out of place too...except today, he felt he belonged. For once since he'd seen Chloe, he felt at
home among the grey. The summer sun, the colors of the flowers, people wearing bright colors...none of that belonged to his world anymore. He couldn't
understand the way he felt. He'd only met Chloe for a couple of minutes and he hadn't felt the same happiness since she'd disappeared. What was that
about?
He sighed, sticking his hands in his pockets and rubbing his newly cut hair. He'd gotten rid of his dreads. Not because of Chloe, it was just
something to do...probably something to keep his mind off the emptiness of his days. All that he had was his job...and liqour. Jack Daniels. Cuervo.
Jim Bean. Those were his friends...his soulmates. Soulmate. Zori shook away the word as it lingered in his head.
His thoughts returned to Chloe. Why hadn't she come to the club? He really thought she was interested, but she'd never shown. He waited for a couple
of weeks...and then he gave up. Maybe he'd seen something that he wanted to see. Maybe her eyes didn't send out a flicker of hope. Maybe that
handshake, the momentary touching of skin was nothing. All an illusion of his mind. Maybe he could make himself believe that...if it meant that he
could finally stop thinking about her.

Fine, she missed him. Time to be honest with herself. She couldn't lie when Van Gogh was looking back at her. She missed him, more than she would care
to admit to herself, or even him. Especially to him. He just didn't have to know, even though she was sure by just one look, he could tell. Five
minutes in a book store and this was what she was reduced to - someone who wasn't her. She wasn't this way with men. He changed the rules, and she
didn't know if she could even play. She was sure she couldn't win.
Maybe she should've went to that club...just to look. She kept pushing it off, then she just made herself forget. She didn't want to see what was
probably happening - him with other women. He was...attractive enough to have this attention, so of course he would have it. She didn't want to think
about it, though, sitting and staring.
She didn't notice it at first, but her heartrate started faster. She sensed something changed; she wasn't turning around to see it, though. She knew
it was him. She just knew, holding her hands on her lap.
"Hello, Zori." she said. She had a feeling.

Zori froze. The initial shock of hearing his name and not even noticing someone in the room startled him. But the increase in his heartbeat, the
widening of his eyes, and the smile that erupted on his face was the direct result of the voice he heard. Her voice...
"Chloe..." He murmered, struggling to keep the mingled surprise and excitement out of his voice. He turned around, looking at her back. How had she
known it was him? Was it his cologne or was it merely his aura the revealed his presence there?
"Didn't expect to see you here." He lied. Another lie. Why couldn't he just come to terms with the fact that he'd been searching for her for weeks,
stalking the bookstore...waiting for her. And here she was, in front of him. Because he was too busy playing it cool, trying to put on the front that
he wasn't concerened about her. That he didn't care that she was sitting only feet away from her and just seconds ago, he'd actually thought that he
wouldn't see her again.

Don't turn around. Just don't. Her new mantra of survival, maybe? Probably, as she felt the shadow of his body blocking the light some more. He was
really here. She sighed to herself, blue eyes shifting everywhere but on him. There was a solid chill in the air inside the room; probably his fault.
It was always his fault.
She turned around. How weak she was, the weakest she'd been in so long, and he was the cause. He was still a stranger to her, but the more time they
didn't spend, the more she wanted to know about him. It was madness.
"Maybe you should've expected to see me here, by what you know of me." she said. Maybe...she was waiting for him to find her.

"You're right..." He admitted and shifted uncomfortably. No woman had ever made Zori uncomfortable. They'd always amused him with their comments, no
matter how unexpected or abrasive. But Chloe seemed to make him a bit unsettled. Probably because she could see through him. Her blue eyes always saw
past his fascade and right into him, into his true intentions. Of course he should've known she was there, SoHo was her environment...he was the one
out of place.
"I guess I hoped you were here...I mean...", He admitted, before he could catch himself. He felt his cheeks get hot and he thanked God for not making
him two shades lighter. If Chloe wouldn't have thought he was insane, he would've laughed at himself. He hadn't blushed since, probably, the first
grade. But there he was, blushing like a milkmaid.
"...I meant I thought you'd probably be skulking around this place..." He said, desperately trying to fix his story. He couldn't understand why he was
so uneasy around Chloe. Even with Christal and her racy comments, he'd been able to control himself, keep his cool. But he couldn't help but become
tounge tied. He'd had so much more control when he first met Chloe, but he felt it slipping away from him.
Zori looked at the Van Gogh painting in front of Chloe. She'd been staring at it, almost in a trance. What had she been thinking about? Was he running
through her mind the way she had infiltrated his?
"So...this is where you've been spending your time?" He asked, sitting beside her.

He did look out of place here, fidgeting in front of her. He was NOT an art lover, in her perspective. He was a man who worked the front of the club,
probably chasing women. He was not a man who stood in front of her, nervous. He looked it; he shouldn't waste his energy on her doing this. She just
didn't think he should.
"You hoped?" she repented. She did, too. She honestly hoped to catch him somewhere, but what was the use? He was probably at the gym, she was working.
He was at the club, she was at home. They were opposites. People said those types attracted; she didn't think it was true, but with him, she was bound
to find out.
She turned to the painting, not wanting to look at him again. It'd hurt too much. She didn't mind him sitting near her; she was in her own world
again...somewhat.
"Yes." she said with a nod. "You look different." She wasn't talking about his hair.

"Yeah...I hoped." He said watching her, although her eyes were focused on the paintings in front of her again.
"Noticed I hadn't seen you in awhile..."
He agreed with her because he felt different. He felt naked without his dreads, they'd been apart of him for almost a year and he'd cut them out of
boredom. What a fucking stupid move. She WAS talking about his hair right? What else could be different about him? Maybe it was his nervousness, he
couldn't quite figure out what she meant and to be honest, he wasn't sure if he wanted to know what she meant.
"Yeah..." He said, rubbing his hand over his hair again, almost self-conciously.
"I'd had the dreads for awhile...wanted something new, I guess." He feigned.
There was a discomfort that Zori absolutely could not shake. He felt as if seconds of silence were hours. But Chloe...Chloe's countenance was
unshakeable almost as if she'd removed herself from the Grey Gallery and found herself somewhere different...somewhere away from it all. Away from
Zori.

"No...not your hair. You look at me different." she corrected him. He wasn't confident anymore. She sucked it dry by one look, but he had no clue he
did the same to her. Chloe's heart could stop when he looked at her, smiled at her. He made her weak. He made her something else. She turned to him,
noticing he did, in fact cut his hair.
"Not bad." she said in that non-wavering tone. He did look different...not bad, though.
So yes, they were both nervous. He just tended to show it. She internalized her feelings, for the sake of both of them. She had to be strong.
"Let's get to the point. You missed me, right?" she asked, point blank. She hoped he did. She really did.

He looked at her and noticed that she was right. His look wasn't just a "look", it was a gaze. He couldn't look at her the same way as he looked at
her when he'd met her weeks ago. He wasn't just admiring her beauty or her shape. Even though there were many things that he remained clueless about
when it came to Chloe, he knew more about her now than he'd known when he watched her walk into the bookstore. And that made all the difference...
"I look at you different?" He repeated, leaning his head to the side. Although he possibly appeared clueless, he'd know exactly what she'd meant.
"I guess I'll just agree with you..." He said, smiling.
Zori couldn't understand his inability to relax when she'd been so calm on the outside. If there's one thing that Zori knew about himself, he wasn't
one to internalize anything. Not anymore...not since Katrina. If there was one time in his life that he'd openly shown emotion, it had been then. No,
Zori didn't cry when his younger cousin was gunned down by a rival gang. He swallowed his emotions when his mother told him at the age of seven that
he'd never know the man that he refused to call "father". He hadn't openly cried until he saw the demolished remnants of his home. Until he watched
one of his best friend pull the body of his grandmother, the woman that use to feed him when his mother and aunts couldn't, from underneath their
crushed home. Zori knew that strength didn't come from suppresion. It came from his tears, his smiles, and his anger. And he'd never hid them from
anyone...again.
Zori was a little surprised by Chloe's bluntness, even after the words had left her mouth. But of course, he liked it. Of course he'd missed her. He
thought about her everyday since they'd met. That was a question that truly didn't have to or need to be asked. But he knew why she asked him...
"Missed you?" He started, looking at her.
"If missed you means thought about you everyday since we met..." He paused wanting her to look him in his eyes.
"Then the answer would be "yes"...I did miss you." He answered.
"And I'd be stupid to think that you didn't miss me too..."

She wanted that gaze, his attention. He was the only one she wanted it from. For some inexplicable reason, she wanted this. He could look at her
forever anytime he chose with her. He just had to look at her in that way - of wanting, longing. It was different, it was scary, but she wasn't going
to run this time.
"Good choice." she said with a nod. No smile. It was her only strength yet.
She had to keep it real with themselves. They were adults, and playing these silly games would disturb them. If this scared him, wait until he delved
more into her...if she let him. She was still - barely - in control of what she chose to reveal. He was making it hard to hide, though. She knew his
answer...she just didn't know hers'.
OK, so she did. She missed him. The fact that he was affecting her this way was something to be concerned about. She sat there, feeling his eyes bore
at the side of her neck. She turned around, and there they were, connected for one moment. She had to say it.
"You're...not stupid."
