The things he did for his wife. Especially lately. After that uh, incident, of a few weeks ago Ian was going above and beyond trying to be a good husband, devote and even surprising her with actually really worshipping her very female body. He wanted to drown himself in her soft curves and beautiful breasts, wanted to devour everything about her that was female. He was letting her go and do as she pleased, and letting her drag him to things like this.

Somehow a very expensive looking invitation ended up in their mailbox, addressed to them, some famous artist even Ivanna knew about was having an exhibit and they were suppose to show up. She was off flittering about while he stood here with one hand shoved in his pocket and the other tugging at the damn tie she made him wear. He was far from comfortable in this get up and far from comfortable with all these rich people all over the place. Champagne passed around by servers along with little pieces of what was suppose to be food but he sincerely doubted it was edible.

So now he just stood there feeling like a dumbass and staring at something he supposed other people thought was art, he could not make heads or tails out of it though. Some chick who looked like she had not eaten for a couple years ogling it, Ian just frowning down at her until she got uncomfortable and moved away. Idiots, all of them.

Oh, he came! Should he be giddy like a little teenage boy again? Because he wasn't, merely jut smirking. Kept off in his corner, watching those people and their tilting heads. They didn't get it, none did - but Ian's reactions were ever so hilarious. Such a funny little guy he was, so wrapped inside his little box he couldn't see anything. Like blinders, leaving him so clueless as he marched no forward through life.

He wondered if he remembered, although he knew he did. There was no way he could not, though. He just wished he could, too bad drugs hardly did that - so many assumptions made about them, but the thoughts were clear and deep in his mind. Really. Deep.

The poor guy was just so uncomfortable though, Clive just had to help him out - not even thinking twice before he began moving. His wife had long gone anyway, wandering off with some girls to pretend to be something of class, Clive seeing that chance... and surely, he could only seize it. Glass in hand, he could only maneuver his way on over, ignoring all those grabbing hands that shot his way, not wanting to bother or being the polite, humble artist anytime of the night. No. What he wanted was Ian, he wanted to fuck with his mind.. and maybe just a bit more.

He was on him in an instant, like a cougar finding his prey, trailing about him in a small circle as eyes caught his with clear amusement, although the emotion was certaintly not reflected back towards him. All the better, when did he like something easy anyway? If he wanted easy, he'd go down to that stupid club... no, men like him, 'straight men like Ian were just all the more pleasing.

"Are you enjoying the show?" He murmured, voice a lethal purr as he stood beside him, glass held high with that cocky look shot his way.

He wondered if his tie came off if Ivanna would get pissy over it. Wanting so hard to make a good impression on these people it seemed, so he would patronize her for just a little bit longer, then he was finding her and dragging her out no matter what she said or did. This place gave him the creeps, and it had nothing to do with the weird creepy art. Just all these either so rich they pissed gold or so emo they seemed to weep with every step they took. Just one big freak show that never seemed to end, the people were enough of a show, but the art? Hell. That was just some freaky shit.

He was about to go hunting up something other than champagne to drink, never could stand the stuff, when a murmured voice spoke to him. His entire body went as stiff as though his superior officer were in the room. There was no way it was the same man, no way that voice could be here. As slowly as he could Ian turned around, the only other outward sign of recognition was how tight he jaw clinched. Ian could only stand there for the longest time telling himself to remain calm, he was torn between punching the man out or running away in fear.

He eventually choice a better option, considering his body was so stiff there was no way to get his limbs moving. He would remain calm. “No, I am not.” His voice crisp and very military. “Waste of good metal and paint. Now, if you will excuse me.” He was going to turn and walk away, find Ivanna and get the hell out.

The people, god, he hated the people. The rich blood he'd come from, the kids wishing to be him, all of them such a pain. Wanting this, wanting that, autographs, hugs, names to drop or charity donations, really, could no one leave him alone?

He'd done his rounds, paid his dues and now it was time for fun. The tease of this man, little solider boy. The torment he could just feel in his mind warming Clive's heart - and pants - smirking back towards that cold, locked jaw expression that was given to him in response. Soon the smirk faded though, stepping forward as Ian started going off about how much of a waste it was.

Now it was his turn to resist punching him, just keeping his hands to himself, standing there with the stature of everything he surely wasn't. Straight, sober, and without a clue who this 'guy' was.

"Why would you say that? Really, Sir, is art not supposed to be objective?" Not saying his name, leaving the word upon the back of his tongue, blocking his escape with one quick move. "Tell me what a good use of metal would be then...." His voice trailing off before his hand shot out without hesitation. "I'm Clive, by the way-" Now he knew his name. Ha. Weeks later. "And you are?"

God Almighty be praised. Ian was going to go light a candle or some other shit he forgot how to do since not attending church for years, something had to be done to thank God this guy did not recognize him. He was free of worry. Free of that tingling of fear which came at odd times, worry that some day he would run into the stranger again and everything would be exposed. But it was okay now, because the guy did not remember.

And in an odd way it really annoyed Ian. He was not forgettable, to anyone. Chicks always remembered who he was and just what he did to them, so why didn’t this guy? Why did he have to remember but this stranger did not? Cruel world, but then again perhaps it was his punishment for the drugs and the . . . other. But the one thing he was not going to do was touch that hand. Blue eyes just looking at it as he crossed his arms and looked back up at the man with a very apparent ‘Fuck off’ glance.

“I am a guy who does not enjoy art.” Not even recognizing the name to associate it with the one on the invitation Ivanna received. “Therefore I find nothing objective about it, if someone wants to waste their time to put out crap someone’s dog would like to piss on then it’s fine by me, as long as I do not have to look at it myself.” He was not willing to give his name to this man, or spend any more time in his presence. Just as soon as he knew his legs would move without him wobbling away Ian was getting the hell out.

He could see the emotions on him, the annoyance with not being remembered coupled with the relief. Wouldn't be exposed, now would he? Did he hoenstly expect Clive to go lunging for him in the middle of his very public showing? Silly boy.

The lack of a handshake rather rude, Clive just tucking his hand away as he tossed his glass upon the next passing waiter's stand, turning back towards Ian as he began to detial just how much he disliked art. "Ah, you're not a guy that enjoys manners either, That I can tell easily-" Honestly, even Clive was a bit annoyed, the rude fuck. "I'd imagine your sweet wife would be appalled. I met her earlier, she was the one who told me I must simply come talk to you." Liar. Who cared? He was getting his way, slowly but surely. Torment, annoyance and that awkward, faint longing all tied in one. "Perhaps I shall have my dog go piss upon your flag, after all, it's only art." Smirk.

Ian could care less if the guy found him rude, he just wanted the fucker to go away. And what the hell? Ivanna sent the prick over here to him? Hadn’t he been the model husband lately? Why the hell did she want to torture him like this? He was trying to do better, treating her like some goddamn queen and this is how she repays him? He could not help the snarl of his at this man and his wife, wanting to choke both of them right now, if Ivanna had been anywhere nearby he would have been dragging her out by now.

“Ivanna obviously does not realize my dislike, I am here for her tonight, not myself. I only wanted to make her happy.” And look where it got him. Swallowing as he looked the man over, having to take a deep breath upon remembering the way that pale body looked naked and sweating with his dick buried deep inside and the moans filling that private room . . .

“Shit.” Rolling his neck to loosen it up before glaring back to the man. Trying not to even think about his name, if he thought about it then he would be saying it and god what if he had some kind of night terror and screamed out that name in the darkness? It would be a terror, not a dream, after all. Shit.

Glaring at the man now, those words annoying Ian to his very core. “You want to come over here and say that, pretty boy? The Army doesn’t take kindly to fuckers talking about our flag like that.” The dare in his eyes for the man to step forward. Wanting him too. For punching out reasons alone, naturally.

"Oh, for her? How charming-" He murmured, knowing fully well it was the truth. He'd come for his wife, and now he was with him. Trapped in his little cat and mouse game, it'd been just too easy. First name, wife's name, his rank, it was easy to find him. Easy o send that invitation out... and now he'd only walked right into it. His playing ground, his world, his rules, whether the man liked it or not.

"Such a gentleman." The words made him want to just laugh, knowing this fool was hardly that at all. He was a jerk, a self righteous asshole that couldn't seem to admit a thing. And he liked it. Damn it, unable to help his attraction, he was just so... straight. For the most part, if he forget that memory of the way they'd felt wrapped up within one another, the way he'd dropped to his knees.... heh.

Hearing that neck crack, he could just grin, those words spat out at him, telling him to come over there and say it even though he was but a few feet away. Closer, he said? Oh, he could olbige. "If you insist-" His voice a gentle purr, stepping closer, looking up those few inches to him. "Infact, I'd do the pissing myself... you insult me, solider boy, i'll hit you back-" Faint reminders of that time before slowly creeping in, the nicknames hardly noticeable at all. Solider boy... ha.

Yeah, well Ian knew the way he was, the way he acted, the way he treated people, and he liked himself fine. Never any desire to change until this guy came along and shock up his . . . well, not perfect world, but at least it was normal. Damn it, he had not even had a beer since that night, some abnormal fear and worry over having the smallest drop of alcohol in his system. What if he said something when a bit of his control slipped? What if he mentioned where he had been that night Ivanna had worried.

And right now he was feeling rather pleased with how things were going, very glad the man stepped forward. “Well, I think this might just make the evening so much better, pretty boy, I hit you, you hit me, and before we know it the two of us could destroy some of this shit around here. Do the world a favor if you ask me. Though I seriously doubt a little man like yourself could keep up with me.” Oh, but he could. Ian remembered those tight muscles hidden beneath all that black.

Worried, was he? Oh, what was there to be ashamed about. They'd shared quite a lovely time together, hadn't they? Writhing as one, their sweat mingled, loving every minute - Ian surely couldn't deny that. He'd almost forgetten of his own cameras but soon finding them, extracting that tape and saving it away, careful to edit out all the incriminating shots of the drugs first.
All it looked like was Ian worshipping over him. And as he rightfully should.

He need not worry of it though, Clive had no reason to let it out. Not yet, anyway - smirking up at him as he was told it'd make the evening so much better to beat on him. Surely it would, Clive could almost taste his frustration as close as he was now. "Ah ah, would you like to find out? I'm always up for a fight, Mr. Bratton-" Well, Ivanna had told him their last name in some giggling fit over meeting him. "It'd be much better if we took it to the parking lot like the movies though, your darling wife would be too embarassed to be seen with you otherwise." Smirk. Barbarian, honestly. He loved it. "I do promise if you manage to win, I'll let you destroy something in here. Let out all those frustrations, I'm sure..."

There was a lot to be ashamed of, too much. Remembering every single kiss and touch now that the man was standing in front of him, which meant Ian was feeling the need to really kick the shit out of something or someone. And how perfect that this man was just so cocky, thinking that little body could dare take his army trained one.

“How kind of you to think of my wife, you could refrain from doing so, if you don’t mind.” The disgust clear on his face, thinking of this man with his hands anywhere near her. “Let’s take it outside, shrimp, I will teach you a few manners before I leave you out on the sidewalk to whimper. Maybe on the way you can tell me why my wife was so interested in talking to you.” Yeah, so he was a bit put out the man had obviously spent enough time with Ivanna to learn their name and somehow be directed over her. “After you, little boy.” Extending his arm so the guy could lead the way. Ian never turned his back on an enemy after all.

Daddy was always having stupid openings. Why did he have to be so popular? She hated attending these things, always feeling so out of place with all the serious artsy types around. Buyers, Dealers, fan boys and girls, students, it was ridiculous. Yet she always showed up, perhaps some part of her still wishing to please her father, or at the very least meet new people. So many had thought she was a model tonight, with her Derek Lam outfit on. Tall and pale, blonde hair curled about her shoulders, she certainly did look one. But she refused, shoving away from them all - feeling like she was already back at school! All the boys trying to get her to ask them to the dance, driving her mad and just wanting to not even go by this point with all the crap they were pulling. Mother had already pulled a dress from the lines for her though, and everything was ready. Except for a date. She wasn't even going to dare ask Luka, he'd refuse as she knew him too well and he'd probably cause some ruckus that would embarrass her. Keegan? He was too low on the scale. Far past Luka, no idea why she even kept on with the boy, ignoring the few texts he'd already sent her that night as she paced over to a bench upon the other side of the room, rudely grabbing a glass of champagne off a waiter's tray, sinking down with her blackberry out into the cushioned chair. Immediately texting Audrey as she gulped down a bit of the bitter, bubbly drink with a wince, begging the girl to get here already. She'd asked her to come so once it was done (or as soon as she could sneak out without her mother noticing - as daddy could care less) they could go raid the town together. Ugh, and where WAS that girl?! Painting her nails black?!

This weeks theme? Black. Everything was black. She would have dyed her hair black too but what if she got tired of black next week and wanted to go neon colors? Then where would she be with black hair! So, no, she kept it the deep red with just a black clip to hold back the bangs she regretted getting. But her little black draped jersey dress was solid black as were her nails and the platform strappy heels. At only 5’3” and hanging around Mercedes so much Audrey had grown to despise her shortness with a fiery passion. And now that she was going through her discovery phase she could only curse the fact that was one thing she couldn’t change.

AT least her eyes were really popping tonight with the smoky blackness surrounding them thanks to Dad’s newest girlfriend. The woman had to be only a few years older than Audrey but the woman had really good tastes and was enjoying being around her teenage self. Kelly was also helping with the teens new experimenting phases – the fact the woman was a celebrity stylist really helped.

And Audrey was really thankful for the help getting ready tonight since she was going to see Mercedes. The most beautiful girl in school was going to see her and she wanted this to be the night. She was going to ask Mercedes to the dance. As her date. Not as a friend. That is if she could stop being annoyed by her phone going off every five minutes demanding where she was at. So it wasn’t really suave romantic Audrey who stomped up to Merc at the gallery and rudely tapped her finger into her crush’s arm three times. “What the hell, Merc, I can’t help my driver got stuck on sixth avenue behind a protect!”

Oh, so she WAS right! It was black. Like a funeral. Or a goth kid. Or her father. Audrey would fit right in here, all the artsy fruit flys flocking to her father, with their berets on and tight jeans, it was a walking cliche. Either that, or plaid shirts - was that the new 'art' thing? They all seemed to wear them. Did it make them feel rugged? Because they just looked bad. She was growing all the more impatient as she sat there, legs crossed and foot swinging in that impatient way, unable to sit still as she was just so ready to GO already! She didn't like supporting her father at all, selfish bastard that he was.

At least Audrey came in time to save her, feeling that sharp jab in her shoulder as Mercedes readied herself to whirl about and slap whoever had done it, phone gripped hard in her hand but stopping as she saw it was Audrey. Looking quite grown up, and a bit hooker goth, Mercedes brows raising as she scooted over on her little cushioned bench and patted the space beside her. "You look positively got tonight, Audrey. Is this a new experiment? Do you want to go the vampire club later?" She smirked, reaching over to give her friend a brief little side hug, phone tucked into her small purse as dark eyes looked over at her with a grin. "Are you sure you were stuck on sixth avenue or were you trying to loose Landen before you got here?" Well, the two were nearly inseparable! But she'd made her promise not to bring him, if only for their own mental health's sake - didn't want to see him grinding on her father, thank you very much!

Hooker goth? Awesome! That was totally better than what she had originally been going for! Hey …maybe she should try the goth thing? Maybe toss a little emo into it with colored streaks in her hair (which went with the neon vibe she was starting to feel for next week) and oh, oh, she needed to find some of those really tall boots that had the big buckles! It would be so freakily amazing! She could go buy some goth music and learn the dances and read a few books about the genre. Because really now, she couldn’t devote herself to a particular look without reading about it first! Knowledge was first and foremost in her mind no matter what. And if she decided to go Goth and got o wear those awesome heavy boots then she would have a personal weapon on her body at all times to kick Lynley with. Oh yes, Goth was looking really promising …

But enough about that! She was with Mercedes, finally! And, as always, Audrey was blown away by how beautiful her friend was. It was really almost in human. As though she were really some kind of seductive alien who was here to suck the life out of everyone to preserve her beauty and power. And, honestly …her mom kind of seemed that way anyway so it totally fit. Wow, maybe she shouldn’t sit so close to Mercedes …

Well that was just silly! This was the girl she had been dreaming about kissing for months now! And this was the night she swore to Landen she was going to make a move. And speaking of Landen … “God Merc, can’t you let me lie at least once?” She rolled her eyes and wondered if her fake lashes were still in place. She had to check them and make sure. Yep. Okay, this glam stuff was really annoying, fake lashes were something Audrey could not handle for too long she could already tell. “Yes I took him there to some club and shoved him at this really hot Latino dude. Last I saw he was being led into a back room where I really don’t want to think about what they were doing back there.” Wait .. this wasn’t good romance talk. She wanted to be romantic! She read enough books on it the past few weeks. “You look really pretty tonight.” There!

Oh god. She could NOT let her do that! A little goth is fine but emo was definitely crossing the line. That was a whole suburban middle class child sort of vibe her best friend was not going to get into! She was better than that. She could be a little kooky and this goth shit was interesting at least, but no more than that! At least it was a high fashion goth, what with that great dress on, Mercedes almost wanting to steal it for herself, about ready to do her usual shoving until she could see the tag and know what she was wearing.

It was so important after all.

It never even crossed her mind that Audrey could feel anything 'more' for her than just best girl friends. She seemed straight enough to Mercedes, and she usually had a great gay-dar on her, what with her father and all, especially with the men he brought home. Men you wouldn't think were in any way gay, but were. Like burly inmates that decided to bunker down while they hid out, one even trying to sleep in her bed naked, she refusing to even return until they'd left, staying with her mother and dragging Queenie along with her. So gross.

Speaking of men for her father, she couldn't help but grin as she was told Landen had been dropped off, Mercedes just grinning in return. "Good, he needs someone hopefully his own... age. Euch." She was too grossed out by it, knowing he'd been with her father putting a huge damper on her forming any relationship with him. It was just waaaaaaaay too awkward for even her. At least Audrey wasn't being awkward, even the compliment just seeming like a normal friendly girl thing to say, Mercedes grinning back at her. "So do you, Audrey. Is that Diane von Furstenberg?" Never another thought in her mind, of course. "It's great on you. Minus the hooker heels. I need to take you shoe shopping, get you a proper lady's heels." She joked, nudging the girl in her side just to show that she was playing.

Audrey did not discriminate against any kind of sub-culture or fashion styles! And how uncouth of someone like Mercedes to do such a thing! But Audrey supposed the one area her crush was not accepting of all things in was fashion. Mercedes was a total snob about it all. Even pressuring Audrey to the point she left her tennis shoes, torn jeans & cute slogan t-shirts behind in favor of fashionable clothing. And that slowly spawned into her going on a ‘Who Am I’ quest that that started about a month ago.

Not to mention it gave them something in common and, as now with the compliment, send Audrey’s heart pounding with completely thrilled blush worthy pleasure. She easily ignored the Landen comment (that was one area they had a silent agreement never to really talk about) and instead beamed over the dress talk. “Yes it is, I know you love her designs!” Which was why she was wearing one, duh. “And hey I need my hooker shoes to give me height! Someone tall like you wouldn’t want to be seen with a midget … friend.” She almost said date! But god that little nudge from Mercedes had her wanting to giggle. It was totally an ‘I like you more than friends’ nudge. Without a doubt! “Besides I think they make my legs look good.” She stretched one out for them to examine and wondered what Mercedes thought about her legs. “Don’t you think?” Fishing for compliments from the girl she crushed on? Totally.

She couldn't help it! Some people were just so... lame and misguided. People like emos, hicks, and hipsters. Ugh, she hated hipsters. Some people just had to be discriminated against, it was life, the way the world worked. Everyone hated someone, Mercedes just hated bad fashion... a lot. She'd noticed Audrey even changing, with her clothes and looks, but she didn't mind. She was just growing up, realizing there were better things out there than some little Juicy Couture shirts. It wasn't as if she liked Audrey 'more' for it, but it made hanging out with her even more fun. Like they had something in common!

Both on the same thread there, if not for the same reason, Mercedes always having been lacking in friends with taste and interests, glad to finally have one. Audrey was fun beyond just her newfound fashion, her funny personality and pinball machine brain. Just bouncing all over, going on about her hooker shoes and dress and her legs, Mercedes mind just blown trying to keep up with it all as she looked down at her legs that were being stuck out in front of her. "Oh, they do look good. Except the shoes, again. They cut off right at your ankles and make your feet look heavy." She laughed, knowing she was just picking on them, phone vibrating in her pocket as she sighed. "Ugh, it's probably Keegan. I didn't tell him I had an event tonight, he's so clingy.." She hated clingy! "Speaking of, did you find any boy for the ball yet? It's getting so close!"

Well, Audrey liked that Mercedes was a total fashion snob. It was really cute and when her friend went on long rants that lasted for ages she would sit and watch in fascination for ages. To her head Mercedes was absolute perfection. Not only was she so beautiful and soft and tall and gorgeous but also really smart and snarky and so much fun. She was the total package. And did not deserve icky people in her life like Luka who freaked Audrey the hell out. The few times she had the displeasure of seeing the guy in person Audrey ran to find a hiding place so she wouldn’t be seen. He was just … scary. And Keegan wasn’t good enough for someone like Merc! Not to mention he was not smart at all which was just really gross for Audrey. And he was so slow! Could the boy move faster than a turtle? No? Didn’t think so!

Okay … so maybe Audrey wasn’t as accepting as she claimed to be.

All that mattered was that more and more her crush was choosing to spend time with her over the two boys in her life. And that said so much! It mean if the bombshell had to choose who to date it would totally be Audrey! And Merc liked her legs! Eeee! That was so awesome! Yeah she might only be 5 foot 3 inches tall but she was mostly legs, knew it, and wanted to flaunt it! She stared at herself naked in the mirror enough to study her body in a purely scientific manner to discover what her strong points were. She had nice tits but they were on the small size which fit her body perfectly. The only thing that really stood out were long freaking long her awesome legs were. She was learning to work that to her advantage with short skirts and dresses and shorts at every opportunity. Even in t he freezing weather here she refused to wear pants anymore, only tights … generally in crazy patterns and colors that could make your eyes cross. But they were fun!

Wait, no more her leg talk. She should talk about Mercedes legs. Compliments were key to budding relationships! But ugh, boy talk? She didn’t like boys anymore! “You should dump him.” Her black nails were digging into her palms with frustration of that little slow talking hick even having a moment of Merc’s time! “He is so last year Merc!” She flipped her short hair back and sat up straighter while shooting a glare at a guy who was staring at her crush. “And no, boys are not worth my time I want you to go to the ball with me, be my date.” She blurted that out so fast Audrey could only hope she had been understood as she held her breath and waited for a reply.

See! Not everyone could be so accepting and free loving hippies. They were bred to have this sort of uppity rudeness where no one was that good for them. Except their own kin, of course, like Audrey. Just like the girl Mercedes was changing too, growing up all the more, yet becoming a bit more childish at the same time. Games seemed to be common with her now, probably why she kept stringing on Keegan. She liked to watch him worship her, liked to tease him and run away. It was amusing, but it was growing tiring. At least Audrey had the right idea, telling her to dump him, Mercedes just nodding her head in agreement.

"You're right, I should. I need a new game to play now-" She hummed to herself, looking around the room with a purse of her lips, maybe some little artist boy was there she could drag off before he went his bisexual way towards her father. Augh, to be in competition with your parents for dates. So lame. It was in that moment when she wasn't even thinking that Audrey blurted out how boys weren't worth time and asked her to the dance. In a big whirlwind, head turning to look at the girl as she just... grinned. Not even crossing her mind this wa sa 'more than friends' thing, girls asked each other to dances all the time! Especially when boys were being so lame. "Of course, Audrey! We'll have sooo much fun!" She couldn't help but squeal a bit like a little girl, all excited to have a girls night out together. "We will have to arrive in a limo and totally take the dance by storm! Blow them all away with how cool we are, yeah?!" Oh, it'd be amazing. She could see it now! Who needed boys anyway? Friends were all she needed!

Audrey could understand games. She played them all the time with everyone around her. Some childish, some serious like the prank that purposely had Professor Jackmon not only falling down the slick freshly over waxed southwest stairs but sliding as well until she landed on the tacks spread all over the floor. All set up by yours truly as she watched from above for ten solid minutes before someone finally heard the cries for help. The woman was in the hospital for two months then switched schools. Ha. That old bag totally deserved it after degrading Landen with her homophobia lectors and then later marking Mercedes grades lower than her friend deserved. No one messed with her friends and got away with it. Not as if Audrey ever admitted to doing such things. Maybe she had a just a bit of a psychopath inside? She should really read more about the subject before being able to answer that question definitively. Besides, she looked and acted so harmless who could ever believe she had anything to do with the cruelest pranks on campus?

Not even Landen knew her deepest secrets and she wanted to keep it that way. Was she ashamed? No. They were just … personal.

But all games aside one thing was very true for Audrey. She wanted to date and kiss all over Mercedes! Especially when the blond agreed to go to the dance with her and was so excited about it. That was so beyond what she hoped for! Audrey was so thrilled by it she threw her arms around Mercedes and kissed her soundly on the cheek! “Yes! It will be amazing! Can I buy you a corsage? Would you wear one on your wrist or something because if it would be annoying I won’t but I would love to buy you flowers! And can I pick you up? I will get the limo it will be so amazing we will have so much together and be the best couple of the whole ball!” She hugged Mercedes tight again and then let her head fall to the taller girls shoulders as she sighed happily and closed her smoky eyes with pure elation. This was perfect! And hopefully they would have their first kiss by then and then Merc would break up with Keegan and finally shake the Russian! They were going to be such a pretty couple! And if her date didn’t like Emo then Audrey wouldn’t even experiment with that no matter how much she wanted too!

Mercedes had briefly wondered why the teacher had left the school but she really didn't care enough as her grade soared as soon as she was gone. Plus the old bag smelled terrible, some of the teachers they brought into their school were just so awful! She didn't care if they had degrees from all the ivy's, she could not stand them. At long as they came and went, and kept giving her the grades she deserved then it was all good by her. No idea Audrey even had it in her to do some of the things she had seen on campus, but compared to what she'd seen with Luka? She could hardly judge. Hardly care, either.

Clearly she just wasn't so intuned with her new best friend as she thought, no idea what she really did or thought - how she wanted to actually date her. No, to Mercedes this was all just as friends, never crossing her mind -e ven with the rambling of Audrey, on and on, Merecedes just laughing as she was kissed on the cheek, hand reaching up to rub the sloppy kiss off like some child. It'd ruin her makeup! "You don't have to get me flowers or a corsage, that's like for middle class prom. But if you want to get the limo instead of me, i'm all for it. I won't have to deal with daddy then." Always a priority for her, nose crinkling at the mention of him as eyes flicked around to see him nowhere. Must have already slipped off, of course. A brief flash of disappointment crossed her face before she turned back to Audrey, tuning back into her world with a grin. Best couple? "Oh yes, drive all the boys wild, won't we? It'll be great!"

The odd thing was it never crossed Audrey’s mind to tell anyone the things she did. Never even crossed her mind that she was keeping secrets from the two people she was closest with. It was like that part of herself was locked away so tightly that even she didn’t know it was there most of the time. So if you were basically not conscious of something then it wasn’t really a thing you thought to speak of. The darker side of her was just so natural and personal … like when you had to pee! Everyone had to pee but it didn’t mean you talked about with people. That analogy made perfect since in her head!

Though one thing that was clearly at the forefront of Audrey’s every thought these days was Mercedes. Landen thought it was so gross she wanted to date the daughter of his boyfriend. Though she could clearly come back with the fact it was freaky he thought he was dating the father of her crush! So there! But at least with Landen he could be distracted by other guys, that wasn’t the case with Audrey. There were no guys she even remotely found interesting or ‘hot’ (there was no need to bring up that one little diversion with Lynley because she was in complete denial about that) and there were only a couple other girls she found really pretty though non compared to Mercedes in any way. And Audrey laid in bed at night wondering what it would be like to kiss her friend. How would her lips feel? Would Merc be wearing gloss that day? Or would her lips be bare?

Sigh.

And she was well on her way to having her curiosity sated! Getting a date was first priority and since they had known each other so long it would be completely acceptable to kiss on the first date! None of the books said that but Audrey felt it had to be true! She waited so long to know what it would be like why should she have to wait longer than the ball? “We will totally be best couple!” Another dreamy happy sigh that turned into a giggle at the driving boys wild comment. Guys loved lesbians! “Oh, we so will! Especially when we dance together, they will be drooling at our feet, Merc! Every girl and guy at the ball will want to be us or be with us!” More like with Merc not Audrey but she could have her little fantasy right now! Maybe she could even kiss her crush on the dance floor! Oh. My. God. That would be so amazing! Like a clear declaration that they were a couple! Oh, god she was getting excited just thinking about it!

Well, everyone kept secrets. It was no big deal to Mercedes to think that Audrey had 'secrets'. Some people would freak out, but unless they wanted to share their own secrets, no one needed to talk about it. What her mother taught her - some things just weren't discussed. And she was fine with it, she had her secrets and Audrey had her own.

And perhaps it was good some of these were secrets, because knowing her friend had more than friendly feelings for her would be strange, even for Mercedes. Unsure how she'd even handle that if it came to light, would she run and hide? Laugh? Or ignore the girl? God knows. At least Audrey wasn't making anything clear, Mercedes in the total mindset that this was just a girl thing. Going together because boys were too stupid to deal with on a night they could have so much fun in!

"Oh, they totally will. But we will have no one, because we are free women, right?" She grinned, remembering that glass of champagne she'd stolen off a waiter as she picked it up to raise in a little toast. "We'll rule that night, just watch Audrey." She grinned, swigging a bit back before she gagged on how disgustingly bubbly and bitter it was, passing it off to Audrey instead. "Ew, so gross. You take it."
