Cain stepped slowly over the fallen trees surrounding the crumbling house in the distance, careful not to place his foot on anything sharp. He'd need
to buy new shoes, soon, with what little money he had left in his ragged jeans; the soles of his current sneakers were beginning to wear through, and
he could feel the damp forest floor through the various holes. A crack nearby forced him to a sudden and immediate stop, not a muscle in his body
moving save for his golden eyes. They swept the surroundings, taking in every tiny movement. When he was satisfied the sound had been caused by a
squirrel running from his presence, he continued forward into the vicinity of the home.
It was abandoned; that much he could tell just by the surroundings. Who would put their house all they way out here? Not to mention the fact that it
was very nearly crumbling from every inch of its decrepit surface. A slight smile twitched at the corner of his lips, though he did not let it show.
He slowly pushed open the front door of the home, pausing again to sniff the damp, moldy air before he felt secure enough to step inside. He dropped
his pack by the door, stretching his arms above his head and wandering slowly through the home. It would do for now, at least, until he saved up
enough money to get a real place. Nobody would look for him here. They would be too disconcerted by the howls coming late at night.
He stopped by a back window, not really seeing, just thinking. He'd traveled a long way over the years. Yet another place to figure out, scavenge, and
then leave. He sighed slightly, the movement stirring up dust on the windowsill.
These are the lies I have
created.

Her small wolf form was creeping it's way between the trees, green eyes bright, curious. A small growl admitted from her lips as she began to track
forward slowly, watching the other wolf before her. It wasn't one of them, just a simple dog that had been in the wrong place at the wrong time. In an
instant, she lurched forward, the dog on the ground, whimpering at the gash in it's leg. Her gums pulled back, sharp teeth making their way closer to
the dog, her fur standing on end. She jumped back eventually, eyes fierce. The dog whimpered, stumbling off. She was still retreated, cautious of
every surrounding tree.
Her senses were heightened though when she smelled another wolf, one of her own kind walking around. Not the same tribe, no, but one of them. She ran
forward to the house, watching the window. Her eyes were narrowed down ward, beginning to circle the old place. She got under one of the flower boxes,
turning back into her human form. She realized she was naked but didn't care much, long hair messy.
She walked to the front, reaching over and pushing the door open a crack, waiting for a response. Her senses were high, waiting, wondering if she
would need to change back to defend herself. Her clothes were in there, and she needed them but figured something bad may be in the old,
crumbling place.

Cain closed his eyes, slowing his breathing, practicing that calm meditative state he'd been working on for so many years. It was the only way he knew
to control his anger, and even when he wasn't mad he found it comforting to go through the same routines. Deep breath in, slow breath out. Creeping
thoughts of Chicago in the 60's threatened to break through his consciousness but he blocked them out, unwilling to focus on the heightened senses he
remembered as a newly turned werewolf, the scent of fresh blood calling his name.
It was when he heard a distant whimper in the woods that he tensed, though his eyes remained closed. He found his senses of smell and sound to be
stronger when he wasn't focused on what he could see. There seemed to be a small scuffle for a moment before a wolf ran off, crashing through the
brush. He remained still, uneasy, aware that a fight involved two beings and that he'd only heard one wander off.
The scents changed after a moment, from the normal woodsy smell to something different; something he had smelled from a distance, though not this
close in several months. He heard a creak behind him and whipped around, bright eyes focused on the door that had seemingly moved of its own accord.
His heart picked up a pace, anger at being disturbed and adrenaline of a threat nearby racing through his veins. He took slow, calculated steps to the
side, hiding his large form in an old closet, pulling the doors nearly closed behind him. He kept his sight towards the entrance, waiting with tensed
legs to see what would come through that door.
These are the lies I have
created.

Rhea waited cautiously but heard nothing, finally deciding it was safe enough. She pulled the door open, blood along the side of her mouth from taking
a bite out of that wolves leg. She went over to the small bag in the corner, pulling out an over-sized t-shirt and pulled it on over head. She put on
some jeans as well, tieing her hair back from her face. That's when she heard a creak, noticing the closet doors had moved. She stiffened a little,
eyebrow raised and a low grumble emitting from her.
Her nostrils flared, looking around with her eyes. "Who's there?" She asked quietly, but still loud enough for another to hear. She was going to be
super pissed if she ripped up her only other pair of clothes she had brought with her. She crouched low, ready to change at a second glance, a creek,
even a snap. She waited, legs strained and eyes dangerous.

The smell was both a painful reminder and a welcome relief. A bubble of joy rose within him; he'd recognized the scent of wolves along the city's
limits, but hadn't expected to come face to face with one so soon. The reminder caused him to freeze, realizing his right hand was already on the
closet door, ready to push it open and greet her. He fought back a snarl as she walked into the home - his home -, his territorial urges
trying to get the best of him. He was here before her, he'd claimed this place. He managed to stay silent while she pulled on her clothes, his eyes
carefully examining her toned body before she covered it, but hearing her voice caused a slightly animalistic growl, barely above a whisper, to creep
from his throat.
He chose not to speak, instead shifting open the closet door slightly. His eyes flashed to the doorway and then back to her, calculating the distance
almost immediately, before doing the same with the window. If it came to a fight over the home or over rage in general, he would stick his ground, but
he still liked to know his escape routes regardless. He took slow steps to his left, placing his back at the wall, his knees bent low and his arms
spread slightly to give him balance.
Cain's bright eyes met hers, holding her gaze as he tried to decide whether she was an enemy or a threat. He cut off the growl he'd forgotten about,
the air tense and silent as he waited to see if she would attack.
These are the lies I have
created.

She almost lurched foreward before a human - no a wolf - stepped out from the shadows. She pushed herself back, calming herself and smirked. She
watched him carefully, absorbing his moves. She felt no need to fight, though if he did attack it would be war. She finally spoke again, voice
slightly hoarse. "I thought I smelled someone else out here." She said slowly, choosing her words carefully. She was happier she could keep her
clothes on, no sudden movements about.
He was pretty, in the sense that she knew he must be a pretty wolf. Bright eyes, dark hair. She moved across the room, his eyes watching her every
movement. She pulled out a rickety old chair, sitting down in it. "What are you doing out here?" Was her neck prevailing question, scraping her nails
against the table out of boredem.

He could see her tense, a slight movement forward before she managed to pull back and calm down. He had lowered himself to what would be a painful
crouch for a normal person, his back strained as he waited to see if a transformation would be necessary. When she spoke again, her voice slow and
easy, he rose up to his full height, though he kept his eyes wary and focused on her. After all, he knew nothing of her or her allegiances, and
failing to remember the carnal instincts that ran through them all could be his downfall. As she moved across the room, he circled with her, keeping
the same distance between them as they'd had before. They might not be on the verge of a fight, but Cain was a wanderer, and he wasn't comfortable
around people in normal circumstances.
His eyes flicked to her scraping nails before flashing back to her face. It took some struggle to remember how to speak calmly in turn. She hadn't
attacked him, so there was no reason to be rude. "Just got here," he said simply, glancing out the window for a brief second. "I like being alone." He
stared unbroken at her, waiting for an explanation of her own. He could see the blood on her lips, and his eyebrow rose a fraction of an inch.
These are the lies I have
created.

She watched him in return, her green eyes shining out against her somewhat pale skin and light hair. She half expected him to come after her, take a
rip at her shoulder. Not that it would matter, she would heal quickly. She brought her fingers up, picking out the flecks of wood and proceeded to
continue, carving the wood away. She waited, expecting something to happen that normally wouldn't but nothing did. They just stared at each other,
examining and wondering. She let out a low sigh, slightly bored as her eyebrows creased downwards a little.
She was waiting for his response, green eyes observant and wide. When he finally spoke she smirked in return, shaking her head. "Thought so, you're
smell's... different opposed to other's here." She said calmly, her voice still even. It pitched sometimes while she spoke, even now out of habit. She
followed his gaze, seeing that wolf she had ripped up a bit lurking around. Her voice turned to a low growl, gripping the table, glaring it down.
Focus snapping back though, when he spoke. She nodded with him, understanding slughtly. She caught him staring at her lips and he didn't look like the
horny teenager boy type. "Took a bite of that wolf out there. Guess the blood isn't completely gone." She sighed, standing up and walking to the
bucket of water in the corner, scooping some up in her hand and wiping away the blood, leaning against the wall.

Cain's gaze slipped to the wolf outside, blood still seeping from its fresh wound. He could see the girl's sudden anger out of the corner of his eyes
and he tensed, aware that such rage often let to an outburst. When she calmed down, he did as well, moving past her to the window to study the poor
creature. His head tilted to one side, his gaze carefully sweeping the woods once more out of habit before he turned back to her. He looked thoughtful
for a moment before he sat down in another chair, swiftly unlacing his sneakers and examining their worn soles. Her words - others, she'd
said - struck a chord with him, but he didn't want to bring that up just yet.
"Why did you bite him?" he murmured, sticking his finger through one of the holes and turning the shoe over to look at the tip of his finger with mild
amusement. He frowned slightly when he saw fresh blood on the bottom, and with a glance at his foot, he saw a swiftly closing cut that he apparently
hadn't felt before. He would need to get into town soon... "You said others. How many?"

She watched him, sudden guilt passing through her as she looked at the wolf. Yes, it had attacked her and no it wasn't part wolf part human, it didn't
turn back therefore it was probably more likely to die. She sighed, always knowing how strong emotions could be for them. She sighed, moving away from
the window so she didn't have to look at the wounded wolf. "Why did I bite him? He attacked me, full on. Grabbed ahold of my leg and growled. He bit
the wrong wolf." She said slowly, running her hand over the wood, narrowly avoiding the splinters. "He shouldn't have done that, I would've left him
alone." Her voice was quieter now, lifting her pants leg to see the semi-fresh wound on the back of her calf that was now healing.
She turned slowly to look at him, making her way back to the table and took her prior seat. She pursed her lips, breathing evenly as she sat across
from this unfamiliar face. "How many?" She looked to the side, not quite sure but knowing there was more than two. "A few." Was her answer instead,
not having met all of them even though she had yes, been here for twenty-four years.

Cain nodded slowly, setting the shoes side by side and leaning back in his chair. He looked up at the ceiling, examining the years of decay, as he
thought of a response. "Perhaps the wolf is the one who has claim over this house," he said, an amused smile crossing his lips. He turned to look at
her calf and scratched the scruff growing on his cheeks, taking in the wound but not reacting to it. He turned to the table, placing his arms on it
and studying her expression as she answered him.
"A few?" he repeated, a displeased look crossing his face. He shook his head and ran a hand through his short hair, digging the nails of his left hand
into the table. The last thing he wanted was to be attacked on his way in town, and the way she'd said 'a few' sounded more unsure than certain. He
didn't like company. He certainly didn't like packs. He let out a slow breath of air, his anger fading a bit. "Cain," he said simply, holding out a
hand over the table. Might as well be civil.

She couldn't help the amused smile that crossed her lips as she watched him, facisnated with everything. She tapped her long fingers upon the old
table top, watching him intently and was surprised by his words. She was quiet for a moment, smiling at him. "Maybe. I wouldn't be surprised." She
chuckled, propping her feet up on a vacant chair. Watching him, she realized his expression dimmed when she mentioned the other few werewolves she had
heard about in town. Not meeting any of them, only hearing their howls at night and smelling them when she was in the bar or other places. Sometimes
even smelling their blood as she passed the stair well to the fight club.
"I haven't met any personally, I only know one like that. A man, in my tribe. The others I've only heard or smelled." Her voice was even, or more
human than anything, no emotion pushing it's way through the cracks of her foundation. She could see the slight angst coming from him, his nails
digging down into the table, for a second thinking her might break it. When he finally spoke again he let out a name - most likely his and broke her
slight day dream. She was un-easy about his hand, instead offering a nod. "Rhea." It was the only name she ever used, short and simple, sweet unlike
her.

Cain grinned wolfishly, his broad smile showing a set of bright white teeth. He wasn't stupid; she'd very obviously avoided his hand. "Afraid of
contact, Rhea?" he mused, returning his hand to the table in front of him. His eyes sparked mischievously, his tone of voice changing with each
unhindered emotion. "I haven't attacked you yet. I'm not about to start now," he laughed throatily, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms
behind his head. He tilted his chair back slightly, balancing on only two of its legs, and watched her with mild interest.
"Interesting. The lot of you live in a single city and don't even know each other personally. Figures," he scoffed, waving a hand. He stood up and
paced to the window, watching the poor wolf outside. It whimpered softly in the descending dusk, choosing a pile of leaves to lay in as it awaited
either death or slow healing. Cain nearly snarled at the sight, the scent of blood stirring him. He needed to hunt soon. He'd been so focused on
getting here that he'd forgotten. "Hm... You're rather far out from the city, don't you think?" he murmured, not turning to face her.
These are the lies I have

"Afraid of getting attacked." She countered with a coy grin, watching him with her eyes. His words were calming, saying he wouldn't attack but she
just shook her head. "Being a wolf this long something I've learned not to trust is a wolf's temper, even my own." She gave him a knowing glance, only
one of their kind would understand. She watched him equally, their eyes never leaving another, watching movements and voices, listening intently for a
growl, or a sudden snap. Anything to get either one of them moving.
She nodded patiently, ignoring the scoff in his voice, face hardening a bit as he said that. "The only ones I don't know are the wolves new to here.
I've been here for twenty-four years but that doesn't mean I've gotten around." Was her response, watching him a bit more carefully now, biting down
on her lip but immediately stopped once she realized what she was doing. She stood up again, pacing over to her bag and pulling out a bottle of water,
drinking it down much like a dog. She sat on the dusty old floor, stretching out her long legs. "Yes, far from the city. But I come out to this
cottage every weekend, sometimes hunt. It's a nice escape, and there are no humans who put themselves in danger out here." She shrugged lightlly,
placing the bottle back in her bag, almost hiding it from his sight.

"You've done nothing to provoke me, and as far as I'm concerned, vise versa. Unless one of us says something to piss the other off, I'm fairly sure
it's unlikely we're going to rip out of our skin and attack each other," he said slowly, his voice calm and even. It was the most he'd said in weeks.
He cleared his dry throat, reaching up again to scratch his cheek. It was almost a nervous habit, something he'd done before his first turn and hadn't
been able to drop since. "The smell of that blood is likely to drive me mad, though," he said under his breath. He was sure she'd hear him - after
all, their hearing was heightened as it was, and they were both on edge - but it didn't matter much. He moved away from the window and to a corner,
sliding down and propping his arms on his knees.
He raised his eyes to watch her across the room, a smirk crossing his lips. "I wasn't insinuating that you'd 'gotten around'. I haven't been around
other wolves for quite some time, and never more than a couple at one... incident," he finished, leaning his head back against the wall. He closed his
eyes, losing sight of her, though he could still hear her movements. "I wasn't aware if there was a pack running this city or not." He thought about
the dangers of humans coming across them in wolf form and scowled, his distaste for the weakness of mortals showing on his face.

She raised her eyebrow and nodded, scooting to go sit back against the old wall. Her fingers ran over the hard wood, attracting dust to her
fingertips. She could still hear the whimpering, a quick and soft growl humming through her throat before she cut off the sound and kept her attention
focused on Cain. She heard his soft saying though, eyes widening. "Does that mean I should leave so I don't end up with another injury?" She inquired
slowly, watching him with cautious eyes.
She listened to him more though, not making a move for the door. She nodded slightly, her shoulders shrugging a bit. "Really? Well you should probably
get used to that, in case we have a First Change happening soon. You know how those work." She snorted, rolling her eyes and pushing her own first
change memories out of her head. Her lips were tight against her teeth, an old thing she used to do, liking the tight feeling it gave. "I 'unno if a
pack runs this place or not, I just do my thing and enjoy my tribe in the way I can." She laughed quietly, more of a dry laugh than anything bouncing
off the walls.

Cain opened his eyes at her soft growl, making sure it wasn't directed at him before he relaxed back against the wall. He shook his head at her
question, picking at a rip in his jeans while he studied her. "No. It's not enough to force me into a transformation. It is making me hungry, though.
It's been a while since I've eaten," he admitted, shrugging his shoulders. He took in her appearance carefully, the angle of her jaw, the brightness
of her green eyes, and raised an eyebrow. He wondered what sort of fighter she was; he'd seen her naked, without her knowledge of course, and she'd
looked toned. Always calculating his odds, just in case.
A snarl ripped through his throat at the mention of a First Change and he shuddered, his body tremoring with an urge for release. He was silent for a
long time, his eyes closed as he breathed deeply and evenly to calm himself down. He hated the ceremonies; he'd been forced to attend several
throughout his years as a wolf, caught by various packs on his way through towns. It angered him to see the beatings and the tauntings, and the
desperation of the young wolf as their first form ripped through their bodies. He opened his eyes when he felt ready, staring at the floor instead of
at her. "I suppose that makes it a mystery then... and I've never been able to resist discovering a new town," he said, grinning toothily at her.
These are the lies I have
created.

"You should go hunt, there's a reason I do tend to come out here." She pointed that out, watching him from the corner of her eye. She looked back to
the wall opposite her, felt him studying her, taking in her body and her face. A blush crept across her face, not able to stop her emotions from
showing themselves. Wolves were so easy to read, emotions always running high and twice as hard to deal with.
She heard the snarl, scaring her slightly as she tensed but calmed herself, knowing it wasn't directed at her. She watched his face, the way the rage
ripped through his features, the way it seemed to overthrow him. She in turn now, while he didn't look at her, she examined him, his body, his face,
mostly intrigued by his bright eyes. She was curious to see him in wolf form, wanting to challenge him to a race back into the city, back to where the
spots were for them. She waited for a few moments before speaking back up. "Well, how about a race, into the city then I can show you where the
werewolves mostly stay on a map. You wouldn't want to run into the.. vampires." A snarl ripped through her body at the very thought of them, almost
turning right then and there before stopped herself, instead digging her nails in the floor and curling her toes.

"I'll hunt tomorrow," he said aloud, both agreeing with her and promising himself so he wouldn't go hungry for another day. He saw the blush on her
cheeks, an amused smile crossing his lips before he focused on other things. A race, she said? His smile slipped wider, stretching his cheeks into a
crooked grin as he stood up. He brushed off his jeans, about to answer when she mentioned vampires. He tensed up, his sight flashing red and a tremor
wracking his body for a moment before he gained control. He was out of breath for a moment and leaned back against the wall. It was always a struggle
fighting the urges the leapt up inside him, as he was sure it was for other werewolves.
His gaze shot to her and he scowled, running a hand anxiously through his hair. "A race it is," he said simply, glancing down at his sneakers. Ah,
well, he needed a new pair anyway. Best to leave those behind. And his clothes were getting a bit ragged, too, so those didn't matter so much. "I'll
wait outside if you need to get undressed," he said, taking in her much more intact attire. He slipped his hands into his pockets and strode swiftly
out the front door, closing it behind him to give her privacy. He sighed, slipping his shirt over his head out of habit and tossing it over the log
nearest the door. Glancing at the door for a moment, he dropped his jeans and placed them carelessly on top of the shirt. Now to find something that
pissed him off.
He found it easiest to change when he was angry, and now was no different. He allowed the memories of his own First Change to flood his mind, combined
with Rhea's mention of vampires in the city. A loud snarl ripped through his throat and he lost himself for a moment in a wave of pain as he fell to
the ground. Seconds later he sat waiting, his bright eyes on the door and his tail twitching in anticipation.
These are the lies I have
created.

She grinned, standing up and stripping away her clothes. She smirked, leaning over to open the door. She stepped back, hunching herself over before
shooting forward, breaking out of her skin and bursting through the door in a flash of white fur. Her tongue fell from her mouth, turning to look at
Cain with a slightly silly expression on her face. The whimper let out again and Rhea let out a loud snarl, an angry bark that managed to shit up that
stupid wolf. She looked to Cain, green eyes bright and whimpered slightly, nodding her nose towards the opening to the woods. Before he had a chance
to do anything she shot forward, the wind pushing back her long golden fur. Her paws padded against the ground as she moved twice as fast, the forest
now her playground.
She only heard him from a distance, catching up so she took a sudden turn, deciding the long way would be a better thing for their race. She picked up
speed, letting out a loud bark so he wouldn't get lost in the unfamiliar territory.

Cain watched through wolfish eyes as she shot through the doorway, her fur shining in the dimming light. He barked - his canine form of a laugh - at
her silly expression and stood up on all fours. At her snarl he growled in return, crouching down in preparation to run; whether towards her or with
her was yet to be determined. His bright eyes followed her motion towards the woods, his strong legs shooting him off after her only a second behind.
The wind exhilarated him, pushing him faster and harder as he leaped over logs and dove under branches.
He followed her scent, seeing brief glances of her tail every time they rounded a corner. Having traveled through the woods on his way there, he
wasn't as lost as she might think. He cut through a group of trees, shooting out through a shortcut to appear right next to her. He let out another
barking laugh - something he rarely did in human form - and pushed faster forward.
These are the lies I have
created.

A playful growl came from her, pushing farther forward and challenged him farther. Her ears were perked up, listening to any sound of anything. That's
when she heard it, the slight snapping of a branch that didn't come from one of them. She stopped dead in her tracks, turning around slowly. A low
rumble came from her, sniffing and smelled something... odd. She could care less if Cain followed or not but she followed the scent, walking slowly.
Her hair stood on end, the growling louder now, her eyes dangerously bright. Now closer she smelled that smell, something oddly familiar to flesh. In
the clearing she spotted a young child, surely the child scared as she back up, growling cut off and head tilted to the side, watching the panic in
the child.

He followed her with his tongue flopped out, catching air as they both ran faster. He was slightly careless, not listening as hard as he should have
been if he wanted to stay safe. So when she stopped suddenly and turned around, he skidded to a stop, his nails digging into the soft earth as he
paused and watched her, his own ears pricking up. He sniffed the warm air, trotting after her until he caught up with her in the clearing. The sight
of the child startled him and he snarled, circling slightly to the other side.
He hesitated, hearing the child mutter something incoherent as it looked around in panic, the kid's eyes both in focus and out. Cain dropped down to
the ground, a low whimper escaping him as he rested his head on his paws, recognizing the visions. He licked his lips in frustration, unable to do
anything to help the child, knowing that it would soon bring.
These are the lies I have
created.

Rhea watched him and trotted over, nudging his side with her nose. It was an affectionate thing for her to do before she made her way over to the
child, crouching down to make herself appear smaller. The child's eyes got bigger but she nodded her head 'no', nudging her warm nose to the child's
hand. She was no older than 12, a scary age for a first change. Rhea remembered it all too well, her ears going down slightly as she waited for the
child to just dissapear, turning her head to look at Cain.
Turning back the child was already gone, going back over to Cain and stood watching him, her eyes showing everything. She made her way back to their
path but instead kept a steady pace, not ready to run just yet.
