He grinned sheepishly as she mentioned that she knew she wasn't the only one who felt the way she did. Who felt alone and unable to communicate with
others - no, she wasn't the only one. It was something that happened to all of their kind - the loneliness and fear of getting too close was far too
great to risk the chance of being hurt or thus hurting someone else in the process.
"I guess we're two peas in a pod," he chuckled, as he carefully sat down on the moist ground, "It was always hard growing up with a family who wanted
to be there for you but were too afraid to get close...too afraid of what you had become," he sighed, running a gentle hand through his silky hair
He had a family at one point - a family who adored him and who would do anything to protect him. But that all changed when he changed. After
that, nothing was the same - his family disowned him out out of fear and gave up any ties to him, any responsibility or loyalty they may have had were
severed the moment they saw him in his true form. It was by far the most tragic moment in his life...yet he tried not to dwell on it, tried not to let
the past control who he was now or who he would become.
Closely he listened as she spoke of her family, a bright gleam shining from her amber eyes as she allowed the words to flow from her crimson lips - so
sweet was the sound of her voice yet so full of pain and of sorrow. He knew what she had been through. Perhaps not exactly - but he knew enough to
know the pain of being lonely. As soon as she mentioned the word "loner" he patted the ground next to him, offering her a seat, as a fellow loner and
perhaps a friend in the long-run.
"Come and sit," he said softly, a tiny smile tugging at his lips, "We'll be loners together," he laughed, as he slowly sprawled out onto the soft
earth.
Well, that was unexpected. Her question had caught him completely off guard as he blinked up at her, an expression of perplexity shadowing his face as
he tried to put two and two together. Was she asking him to live with her? They hardly knew each other yet Jacob felt that she was more than sure with
her suggestion.
"Room together? The two of us? Well, I wasn't expecting that...," he chuckled nervously, "I don't think you would want to live with me. I'm messy and
loud...and...I...er...I chew with my mouth open! It's not a pretty sight, trust me," he explained, still laughing a bit, his nerves quickly getting
the best of him, "I'm sure there are plenty of other people you can live with, right?"
Oh, who was he kidding. She was just as alone in this world as he was - she needed someone like him; a friend.

Kayley grinned and moved over to sit down beside him, glancing his way. "Thanks, but now we're a duo instead of loners," she joked, chuckling softly.
Noticing how flustered her suggestion of rooming together made him, she shook her head and looked out over the forest. "Ah, you're right. Kind of a
dumb idea. I mean, you barely know me and vice versa. I was mostly thinking of money concerns since I don't have a job yet and neither do you."
After a moment or two, she pushed herself into a stand and dusted off the back of her shorts. "Well, it was nice meeting you at any rate. I should
really go look for a job, as much as I'd like to put it off." With one final look over her shoulder, she waved to him."I'll see you around, I'm sure.
Take care of yourself, Jacob," she said, before walking off into the forest and making her way back toward the city.
