A raging fire caused by two werewolves fighting left this land barren.

Silently, he stalked through the forest, yellow eyes glaring solemnly through the blackened trees. Four legs seemed so much easier than two, he mused quietly padding lightly completely shrouded in his Urhan form. He raised his head, snout perched proudly in the air to inhale the deadened forest scents, he was fully aware there would be no hunting done here.

A snarl ripped through his throat as he smelled someone near, one of his kind. One of his tribe even, Valentine lowered his head, flicking his ears quietly in the direction of soft footfalls, before sitting down to wait for the wolf to approach.

He had brought clothing, tied around his foot although he wasn’t one who enjoyed being caught naked in a blackened, burned out forest. His stomach rumbled, deviously alerting him of his growing hunger.

He was becoming edgier as he sat in the forest, gently brushing his tail along the forest floor with a sweeping motion. His thoughts racing, anger growing as he waited for the wolf to approach, wondering when exactly he would get to eat, as he wasn’t about to submit himself to human garbage.

She was simply going out for a walk, ready to kill anything that would get in her way. Her senses were high though, sensing another amongst the forest, stiffening and realizing the blood was oddly familiar... one of her tribe. It was strong though, king like and... Valentine? What was he doing out here, brow raising as she stepped around the tree to see his dark wolf figure sitting there, staring at her with anger.
"Don't attack me, buddy. Not my fault I caught you like that, not that seeing you naked is new or anything." Rolling her eyes and leaning against a tree she eyed him, her flannel shirt buttoned up but a little too big, jeans hanging off her hips and those famous cowboy boots fitting to her feet. "Didn't think I would see you out here though, didn't realize this was new territory for you."

Great. Rhea, she was standing like some luminous Amazon, her graceful figure leaning against a barren oak. He emitted a rather desperate attempt at a human sigh, opening his lips as if to yawn and then stalking behind a tree.

Returning to his human form with a rather shaking groan he pulled himself into his old jeans, slipping on his shoes and throwing his shirt over his bare, russet shoulders. He returned into the clearing, eyeing her with his faded emerald eyes, a scowl worn into the contours of his face. She was beautiful, to say the least. Her gaunt face framed by pale hair, two dark eyes staring out, a feral glint in them.

“Rhea, so great to see you,” He muttered, his voice harsh after having been in Urhan form for nearly 24 hours. The sarcastic note was more than obvious as his stomach seemed to grow more and more angry with the passing moments and he was one to look for a fight, even from someone he happened to be on standing terms with. He turned, staring down at her feet, the ridiculous cowboy boots tightly surrounding her, utterly cramping her toes. “How do you stand those?” He said, the gruff note beginning to fade as he accustomed himself to walking upright, although practiced by homo erectus for a few hundred thousand years, it still left him feeling awkward and out of place with his body.

“Yes actually I was looking for something to eat,” He growled sporadically, turning to sniff the air, unappeased. “Unfortunately as you can see everything is dead. I wandered here by accident. You know I can’t stand human food.”

"You too, Valetine. Funny I see other tribe members more than I see my own, funny isn't it? I think you need to become accustomed to something we call human life." Chuckling softly and waiting for him to just completely snap at her, always teasing and taunting one another. He hated how he was always ridiculing her shoes though, comfortable to her and not cramping her toes even though everyone else seemed to think so. ""How do I stand them? They fit, they don't hurt, they don't bother me, they fit therefore I'm not going to go trade them in for some shoes that I don't like and are too big. Honestly, Valentine-" Wishing he wouldn't mess in her business, always asking those types of questions, most likely just to irk her.

"So you... wandered into a place called the Dead Forest, hoping to look for food? You're not that old and senile, honestly, not even squirrells run around in here. Why didn't you go for another part of this place, that has more living things?" Shaking her head full of platinum hair at him, tapping her foot against the ground and looked at him. "Most of us can't stand human food but if I'm really hungry, I just go after a raw steak. Nothing too hard to find."

“Mhm.” He grunted, biting his lips before sidling up to a nearby tree to lean against it as Rhea did. “I love acting like something I’m not Rhea.” He cast a careful glance around the clearing, eyes sweeping over the blackened, bark, nose sharply inhaling the faded stench of a fire. This is why he hated it, he couldn’t grasp the full rawness of his inhumanity, he couldn’t leave his thoughts and his life… he couldn’t just drop everything and succumb to his instincts. Damned Rhea wouldn’t understand his thoughts, the broken way his mind worked and the rather impressive sadness he felt for a girl he had once loved deeply, for a life he had once had.

“And I prefer no shoes most of the time,” He said, running a hand through his hair with a rather dedicated sigh. Rhea’s scent was almost comforting now and he wished he hadn’t come so agonizingly close to ripping out her jugular, the musty scent of burned debris seriously through of his nose.

He’d thought he’d explained to her his reasons for coming here, a shake of Rhea’s head and her condescending tone told him he hadn’t. It wasn’t his fault, he had become so nearly disoriented after the ice cream fiasco with Tyde, the only thing he had wanted to do was run through a forest and get the terrible metallic taste from his mouth of the water he had so rigidly gulped down. “That’s disgusting Rhea you can taste the plastic. I would think with your senses you would understand that. You were able to smell me through this terrible stench.” He wrinkled his nose, as if in reply to his gruff words.

"Whatever you say." Shrugging and knowing that if they aruged it would go no where, Valentine would win and then they would be on their way. It was how things worked and she wasn't about to go around trying to change and fix them. He had never told her anything about his old life though, blocking that out from his memory and Rhea was never one to pry it out of him. She slid down the rough bark and ignored the sounds of the ends of her shirt snagging on the bark, turning to look up at him as her hair fell back from her face. "No kidding, any time I see you you're either naked or without shoes but with clothes. Doesn't it get annoying?" She meant the things poking around at your feet, trying to pry their way in. It never hurt just annoyed the crap out of her and why she had resorted to shoes.

"Who says I don't taste the plastic, hmm? I just prefer to ignore it. And unlike you, I actually like water, it washes out that taste. If I'm desperate enough I will eat raw steak with the 'plastic' in it because I'm not going to go starve myself to death. I'm not looking for a way out of his life."

Sometime he wasn’t sure how she had come to be in his tribe, they were meant to be fearless, invulnerable but now Rhea’s response to everything seemed “whatever.” He sighed, stepping closer to her, soft footfalls as he crossed the forest. With a grin he slid down beside of her, coming eye to with her dark eyes, contrasted so surely against her pale skin and rather light colored hair. He was a hypocrite; he had locked his own past away, scared of the vulnerability, scared of human emotions. They weren’t even human, they were so much deeper than that, he felt them with such a shameless passion at some points, a static tension that ripped through his mind. Titling his head to the side with a rather annoyed expression he tried his best to ignore her comments about his nudity, wondering exactly what she meant about it.

“Does what get annoying?” he chuckled deeply, his face turning rather sarcastic and abrasive as the same angst feelings returned. “Living like this? Alone?” a pained expression bit into the contours of his worn face, lines harshly drawn as age began to set in. He failed to remind her that no one chooses the life they lived. “I’m really hungry Rhea.” He complained, his eyes glittering agitated, breathing was getting difficult and he felt weak, he wasn’t sure he would be able to transform unless he ate soon.

She had become so used to this life it didn't bother her anymore, didn't care to intimidate people seeing as it came easy for her sometimes. She remembered that girl at the bar, nervous and intimidated by her. She rolled her eyes, slumping farther down against the tree and took of the plaid shirt to reveal a tank top. She closed her eyes and tried to relax but she could feel his tension seeping into her mind and thoughts, the harshness of it making her feel more agitated than calmed. "Sometimes I honestly think someone hit you hard over the head and you lost half your brain, and I mean the smart half. I mean does it get annoying feeling pinecones and needles pricking into your skin. Living like this, along as you said is not annoying, we all basically live that way. Come on." She stood up and stretched out, turning back to look at him with a raised brow.
"I know you're just trying to change the subject and this time, I'll let you off. Next time, you're getting a hit to the jaw." A sweet smile crossing her face and she shivered a bit, taking off her cowboy boots and let her feet sink slightly into the ground. "If you're so hungry, let's go hunting. Maybe I can show you places that don't involve the word 'dead' in them, hm?"

Of course he was avoiding her, avoiding the subject. He was avoiding the emotions and the life he had once had avoiding everything and letting just an instinctual pull take over his hardened, iron clad mind. He stared at Rhea for a moment, her words sinking in and then half heartedly grinning at her. He wasn’t sure what to think, the pine needles? No, the pine needles didn’t hurt; his feet were accustomed to walking on surfaces synonymous with burning embers. He thought she had meant something deeper, Rhea didn’t seem alone, or…not as alone as Valentine felt.

He had a strange urge to rip up her face, or at least leave her stinging with enough punches to break t he bones in her cheeks and nose a few times over. Although, restraining anger had become rather an easy practice for him, as he grew in age everything seemed less important, he watched the days pass still looking like a man Tyde’s age. He growled for a moment, throwing his shows, jeans and other necessities in the corner, his broad form standing in front of Rhea his anger rather brooding. He wondered if she knew anywhere not entirely dead or stripped of food sources.

Wondering if his silence bothered her he straddled up to flank her, pale human form contrasting against the dead forest. She seemed to have suddenly taken control of their small tribe, suddenly head alpha. Sarcastically he turned to smile before curling awkwardly into Dalu form and staring down at Rhea.

She looked up at him, her dark eyes glimmering and her fingers tapping idly. Her brow raised a bit as she stared at him before deciding to finally change. “Interesting choice.” Her grin was large as her body formed down into Urhan size, white fur pricking out and standing out amongst the dark forest. Her clothes were shredded though there was most likely more back at their place. She cursed her mother though for her blonde hair, making Rhea one of the few white ones in their community. Her gums pulled back to reveal her sharp teeth, yelping quietly at Valentine as she trotted off, tail swishing around behind her as she began to sniff the air, looking for a way out of the woods. Her pace began to pick up though, tearing off into the darkness and only hoping Valentine could keep up though she figured he would be able to.

Urhan. Valentine could understand that, suddenly ashamed of someone seeing her perfectly round breasts under thick clumps of pale fur, although Valentine really couldn’t have cared less. He was her pack mate not her lover and Rhea was nothing more than a sister to him. Following her lead, he also returned to his previous Urhan form, stalking after her. His brown mottled fur camouflaged well with the murky atmosphere, Rhea standing out against the bare oaks.

Maybe she should move to Alaska he though, trade in her cowboy boots for snow boots.

Kayley hadn't been in New Helena for very long, probably just a few days. Living out of a cheap hotel room wasn't the life she'd expected during her childhood when she was going to grow up to be something great. Like a doctor or lawyer, but that was all before the visions and nightmares. Before she experienced the First Change. She had always believed that your life was what you made it to be, until then; it was painfully obvious her life had been chosen for her whether she liked it or not.

So, here she was, wandering around some dead wooded forest instead of trying to find a job like she should be. Still entirely in human form, as she rarely took any other, she wandered over to a nearby tree and plopped herself down against it. Kayley had no idea what she was doing out here really, she just had a feeling she was supposed to be here.

It had been days now since he had last picked up her scent. She must've been miles away by now, far from sight and out of mind. Yet never fully out of his mind. The dreams he had still remained, one reoccuring dream after another of her, of the one who he had only heard of in stories and through rumors. His mission was to find her and to seek the truth behind his visions - even if it wasn't what he would come to expect.

Slowly he trudged through the dark forest, the smell of dirt mixed with decaying leaves all too familiar to him now as he had spent days now simply wandering here, his own personal domain. He had come to know the sounds, the sights, and the smells so well that he felt comfortable here - he felt alive here. However, today brought about something different. He could sense another's presence lurking nearby...a female. A female of his kind. Was it her?

Quickly shaking the unending questions from his mind, Jacob ran towards the lingering presence, his instinct as his only guide as he jumped over rocks and broken branches, searching - forever searching. Finally, he found her. A dark-haired woman with amber eyes, just strolling about on her own, completely unaware of him. Quietly he ducked behind a tree, watching her closely, making sure to keep hidden just in case she decided to strike. He doubted he would but with his kind, he was never really sure.

And so he waited, silently keeping watch behind a tree - watching and waiting to figure out his next move.

Kayley, while she rarely changed her form, still had all the senses that came with being what she was. A werewolf. Her sense of sound was better than normal, but her sense of smell was the strongest of all. Just like he had done, she picked up the scent of another on the breeze. A male. She paused for a moment, then surveyed the area to try and find this unknown male that was somewhere nearby watching her. Normally she had no qualms with other werewolves, but the ones who stalked and watched instead of outright approaching made her nervous.

She wasn't a fighter, even if she was a wolf. Granted she could fight if need be, just not very well. She was smaller than most women to begin with and slender of build; she was built for speed and grace, not strength and brawn. Sighing to herself, Kay reached up to rub her eyes with one hand while using the other to push herself into a standing position. Might as well get this over with, she thought.

"If you want to fight me, don't try wasting your time. I'll just leave," she called out to whoever it was that was watching her from the shadows. Perhaps she was on another tribes' lands and they didn't appreciate her being there. Whatever the case, it was better to be safe than sorry in her opinion.

Closely he watched her movements, her slender frame positioning herself for confrontation. Ah, but he wasn't one to confront anyone. Even after the change, even after Jacob discovered what he was, he still retained that humble nature. He was a gentle soul who had no qualms with anyone unless provoked, of course. However, this woman seemed different than most of his kind he had met - she seemed calm, her aura quite soothing, and her soft voice like a charming melody to his ears.

Suddenly, his body stiffened as he watched her move a bit closer, speaking loudly enough for the whole forest to hear as she confessed that she didn't wish to fight. That was good - fighting was the last thing Jacob wanted as well. Although he was quite skilled when it came to fighting he wasn't one to go throwing his own strength around - he knew better than to mess with the delicate balance of things.

"I don't wish to fight you," he finally spoke, slowly peaking out from behind the tree, "I just thought you would get so nervous by my presence that you might attack me so I decided to hide," he explained, giving her a crooked grin as he moved towards her.

There was something about this one that seemed oddly familiar. Perhaps it was her dark raven hair that mirrored his own or maybe even her glowing amber eyes that reminded him somewhat of his mother's. Whatever the case may have been, he felt somewhat drawn to her and to her strong aura.

"I feel...as if I know you from somewhere...," he said, trailing off as his eyes narrowed slightly, his gaze taking in every feature of her face, "What tribe are you?"

Ha! Like that would help any. He hardly knew anyone from his own tribe let alone any of the other werewolf tribes. But maybe he didn't mean that sort of tribe...maybe he meant something else. And maybe, she in turn, would understand him.

Blinking as he spoke and stepped out from behind the tree in front of her, Kayley couldn't help but stare at him much like a deer caught in the headlights of a truck. Ruddy skin, black hair, chocolate eyes, noble facial features... it was obvious he was Native American; of what tribe, she did not know, but he was the first werewolf she had met who also had Indian blood in their veins. His voice was deep, but gentle and soothing; he was obviously not one of the Blood Talons or Storm Lords... so she allowed herself to relax in his presense and took a more casual stance.

"You... do?" she replied, his sudden question catching her off guard; while there was an odd familiarity from him, she could not recall if she'd met him before. Surely not, for she'd like to think she would remember a face as handsome as his. She averted her gaze for a moment, cleared her throat, then looked back. "Cheyenne, if you are asking about my heritage. If you mean werewolf tribe though, Iron Masters."

Kayley tilted her head much like a wolf would when a curious noise caught their interest, then asked, "What about you? You are obviously Native American too... the first I've met who is also a werewolf like me. What tribes are you from?" By 'tribes', she was confident he would know she meant Indian and Lycan.

He could tell she was examining his features, his rugged face, those gleaming brown eyes, and dark raven hair - all features she had probably seen before among her own people. Yes, he could tell she was of Native blood. It wasn't her physical attributes, however, that made him realize the possibility but rather her spirit. It was strong and radiant, almost as radiant as her own beauty as she slowly stepped into the light, her exotic features now glowing against the dimming sun's rays.

"Not personally...but in a strange sense...Spirtually? Yes, I'd say spirtually I feel as if I know you...," he spoke calmly, as he slowly began to circle her, not in a menacing manner but rather in an observant one.

His eyes gazed over her beauty, the fine features of a Native woman standing before him in all her glory. She was indeed beautiful, he could not deny that yet her spirit was what had him entranced, had him wanting to know more.

"Navajo," he said bluntly, finally stopping in his tracks as he looked up at her, "And Bone Shadows," he added gruffly, as if trying to hide the fact.

It wasn't that he was ashamed of being what he was - no, he had learned to embrace it. His mentor and adopted-father taught him to learn to love what he was, to embrace it, and to live with it. Never did being a werewolf anger him or frighten him. But his pride for being werewolf still never outshined his pride for being Navajo.

"Tell me, daughter of the Cheyenne, what brings you to these desolate woods?" He inquired softly, as he finally came to stand before her, his tall, looming figure hovering over her, a true symbol of strength and pride.

Kayley felt herself beginning to blush as he inspected her, hoping that he didn't or wouldn't notice. While she was a lovely woman, she had never had much experience when it came to the opposite sex in terms of relationships. Due to what she was, she kept herself at a distance or arm's length of ever letting herself fall in love. Sure, it was pretty lonely most of the time, but werewolves could not be with other werewolves... and humans no longer intrigued her in that way. They did not understand her, nor did they want to be with her most of all.

"Well, spiritually, makes sense. I feel the same, though probably not as strongly as you do if you are of the Bone Shadows," she said, since it was pretty well known what each werewolf tribe practiced.

As he stopped and stood before her, she looked up and met his gaze. "To be honest, I am not sure. I should be out looking for a job or some source of income, but..." she trailed off, shrugging her shoulders during the process. "I just felt like I needed to be here for some reason. Wolf instincts probably." She grinned.

He could see the flush rising in her cheeks as he examined her, his mind taking in every curve of her face, line in her smile, and twinkle in her eye - it was just the way he remembered people. Examining them closely, every feature on display for him to recall later on - maybe if he observed her more he'd finally put to rest the notion that he actually knew her. Of course he couldn't know her - they grew up in different places, in different situations, etc. There was no way they could've crossed paths...could they?

"Well, it's nice to know I'm not going completely insane," he chuckled, grinning as his sharp canines glistened beneath the tiny rays of sunlight, "A job? Hmm...I see...," he said, his voice suddenly growing more serious as he put a finger to lip, a pensive expression taking over his face.

Her wolf instincts? Ah, he knew those all too well and the power they had over one of their kind. Sometimes their instincts (at least his, from his own personal experience) were uncontrollable and even the strongest of their kind found it difficult to seperate the animalistic side and the human side.

"Wolf instincts," he repeated gruffly, a soft laugh escaping his lips, "I completely understand. I've been wandering in these parts for days now because I feel that I need to be here. It's as if something is drawing me here, y'know?" He questioned, raising an eyebrow to her, wondering if she really did know what he spoke of.

Jacob knew at times he had a tendency of speaking in riddles but it was how he was taught, how he was raised. He could only hope that she would understand - that close connection he was feeling still lingering there as they spoke, as they stood so close to one another he could practically feel the connection tugging at him.

Kayley allowed the blush to finally fade away from her cheeks, more so willing it to as she nodded to his words and took in their surroundings. It was definitely an odd place, there was something that wasn't... natural about it. Like how it had gotten this way to begin with. Whatever the case, Kay didn't ponder over it for very long before she looked back to Jacob.

"No, I know what you mean. Perhaps we're supposed to find something here, I don't know," she said, with another passive shrug. "It just seems odd we would both have the same feeling and come across each other, you know? It could be purely coincidence, but since we're both werewolves... I hardly think anything happens to our kind by mere coincidence anymore."

She smiled warmly, then offered out her right hand to him. "My name is Kayley, Kayley Williams. You can call me Kay if you want, some of friends do." She paused, then cleared her throat softly. "Well, they used to, when I lived at home." After another moment of silence, she asked, "So how long have you been here in New Helena?"

He smiled down at her, her tiny figure a mere shadow in measure to his looming stature. She was so delicate and fragile looking Jacob feared getting too close to her, feared scaring her off although they seemed like kindred spirits due to the rising similiarities between them. However, Jacob always knew to keep his distance considering what he was. He always had an undying fear that somehow his so-called "gift" would prove to be a curse - a curse to anyone who tried to get too close.

"I agree. In my life, things hardly happen by coincidence," he said solemnly, as he tucked his hands into his jean pockets, "Life is always full of surprises and I intend on making the most of them even if I can't quite explain them."

Such as this. This unexplainable meeting with someone he felt a strange bond with. Obviously, Mother Luna and perhaps even The Great Spirit had something in store for both of them - something that they had yet to discover. He always took these sorts of things as just fate working it's magic and he was never one to go and question whether his life was going down the right path or not. He knew that whatever would come of it was simply meant to be.

As she extended her hand in greeting, Jacob couldn't help but smile, taking her hand and giving it a firm shake, "I'm Jacob. It's nice to meet you, Kay," he said smoothly, that gentle smile still tugging at his lips.

How long had he been here? He really didn't know exactly how long. It felt like days upon days to him but from what he could recall it wasn't too long. Perhaps a few weeks maybe not even that. He had lost track of time completely after he only kept one thing in mind - to find her, the woman in his visions.

"I guess I've been around for a few weeks. Not really sure. Time seems like a blur to me nowadays," he laughed a bit, shrugging as he looked to her, those amber eyes so warm and sweet, "And you? How long have you been living here?"

Kayley was having the same thoughts, that Mother Luna and possibly other higher forces were behind this chance meeting in the dead woods. Perhaps they were meant to help each other in some way, or maybe it was something as simple as just being close friends. Whatever the case may be, she was sure they would find out in time. After shaking his hand and smiling, Kayley crossed her arms over her flat stomach and canted her head to one side slightly while he spoke.

"It is nice to meet you as well, Jacob." She looked up at him still, her smile fading just a bit into a grin. "Believe me, I am glad to meet you. It is hard to make real friends when you're a werewolf... at least for me. Even though most humans have no idea what I am, they still think I'm 'weird' or something."

She grunted in disgust as the thought, she'd always been an outcast due to her wolf nature affecting some of the every day normal activities humans did without much of a hitch. Her awareness returned to the present, however, as Jacob spoke how long he had been in New Helena.

"Ah, longer than I have then," she murmured, idly nudging a mound of dirt with her white Doc Marten boots. "I have only been here for a few days, I rented out a motel room for five nights but I really need to find a steady source of income. So then I can hopefully find a more permanent place to live, you know?" She looked up and grinned at him.

Her hand was warm within his own, a slight tingle spreading throughout his body as he slowly pulled his hand away, the prickling feeling never fading until he finally tucked his hand back into his pocket. How strange and indescribable yet Jacob found some solace in this girl's presence. Some sort of peace he hadn't felt in a while, his restless mind never allowing him a moment to breathe - until now.

Oh, he knew alot about not being able to make friends. He could only assume that she was like him in that sense - afraid to get close to anyone for fear of hurting them in the end or not being accepted. It was hard enough making friends as a human let alone as someone who kept a dark secret - a side he refused to show anyone unless he could trust them completely.

"Yes, making friends can be somewhat...difficult," he sighed softly, running a hand through his long ebony hair, "It was hard enough keeping the ones I had after my first change," he said solemnly, biting his lip as he glanced back at her.

He heard a slight grunt escape her lips, her tiny nose wrinkling up in disdain as she looked away for a moment before looking back at him. It was obvious that being a werewolf had never been truly easy for her. He knew that all too well. It was hard balancing both sides of himself - the animal within and the human that fought to stay in control. He couldn't even begin to imagine how it might've been for her. Although her spirit seemed strong enough to handle what may have come her way, he knew that sometimes everyone had a breaking point.

"I assume you had a really rough time making friends, huh?" He asked honestly, as he backed away a bit before leaning against a nearby tree, "Don't worry. You're not the only one who has been through rough times when it comes to being close to people..."

He wasn't going to go there. He wasn't going to divulge his sob story to her. It was too much for a first meeting - it would wait for now.

"Ahh, I see. Well, that's undestandable. I'm not really looking for a job...I have...er, other things to worry about at the moment," he laughed a bit, trying his best to cover up what he had just said, "So, do you have any family around these parts or are you a loner?"

Kayley lifted an eyebrow at his comment of her not being the only one going through rough times, when it came to being close to people; she knew that every werewolf had a hard time with it, some a bit harder than others. Luckily due to her tribe affiliation, she had more in 'common' so to speak with real humans than most lycans. Sighing heavily, she just nodded and then averted her gaze elsewhere for a moment.

"Oh, trust me, I know I'm not the only one," she murmured, shoving her hands into her shorts' pockets. "It's the curse of all our kind, I'm afraid. We are just like real wolves. If we do not belong with a pack, then we are lone wolves."

But... he had other things to worry about aside from looking for a job, huh? Well that was pretty much everyone she figured, human and werewolf alike. There was always something else in the way of things we really needed to do or get done. It was inevitable honestly, and any time things went as planned it was a very rare occurance. Finally, her gaze went back up to his face and a slight grin crept over her full lips. Chuckling, she shook her head a few times.

"No, no family here. All of my relatives are back in Montana; the living and the dead ones," she said, realizing that sounded a bit morbid. "My mother died from complications after giving birth to me, she was a werewolf like me. She was also Cheyenne, my father wasn't. He never did get over her leaving this world, so he sent me to live with my grandmother on the reservation. I'm not sure what happened to him after that, he never kept in touch. So... I guess that makes me a loner."

She shrugged and then grinned at him. "Maybe we can, you know, room together or something. I know it's odd to ask since we just met, but two loners are better than one right?"
